How Do You Code?

I was wondering how most of you folks coded your websites HTML do you do it by hand or use a WYSIWYG editor like FrontPage, Dreamweaver, Expression Web, etc?

For the most part I use Expression Web because its actually a lot quicker (and puts less strain on my wrists) however every once in a while ill go in to notepad and hand code certain sites.

So what about you folks, do you code by hand or use a WYSIWYG editor?

I do all my hand coding (both PHP and HTML) in a test editor by the name of Scite. The program does some minor coloration on various HTML and PHP commands. Variables are in a golden brown, for example. General text appears as light green. Other stuff gets other colors, and subsequent text gets turned grey when I have an HTML tag open (Ie; I put a < but haven't done a > yet.)

Generally speaking, programs like DreamWeaver do kind of a crappy job making efficient code. They're better than they used to be, but they can't match the power of hand-coding.

We've been using Frontpage and SJ Namo. But now we're going into Dreamweaver.

HTML / PHP: notepad++

some php in phpDesigner

no fancy stuff here - all bare metal

I code both xhtml/php by hand, and my editor of choice is jEdit

For large projects, where debugging, version control and more fancy stuff is needed i use Eclipse IDE

I use SJ Namo, NotePad ++ and a graphic/vector program which also creates web pages.

WYSIWIG with moderately frequent editing with a text editor.

i use a mix of golive and textpad...

golive for the html and textpad for anything related to css and php..

For Java/jsp, and use netbeans/eclipse.
For HTML/CSS I mostly use Aptana.

i use dreamweaver right now but i am slowly teaching myself to write html by hand but it is still a lot quicker for me right now with dreamweaver

i like to code by hand cuz one cannot convert tables to divs with any tool out there. Bare HTML is just the best if you want the optimum out of HTML - WYSIWYG tools are great for rapid development.

btw: is there a tool that can slice images and generate divs instead of tables?

I hand code plus use Word Press or Blogs Organizer for my blogs.

For developers Dreamweaver CS4 is pretty sweet, it can do color-coding for Javascript and PHP and can do code completion for many JavaScript libraries such as JQuery, ExtJS, Spry framework and many more.

If you're looking for something free, then try out Aptana for Eclipse, it handles JavaScript and PHP fairly well, but doesn't have a visual development environment like Dreamweaver.
