    Making Green Porn

I am really concerned with environment and I am wondering if there is simple solutions to reduce my eco imprint as a porn company. I am not saying that I want to put condoms in the dishwasher here.

    Here's a couple of thoughts:
    1) It's getting easier to use less and less papers with portable devices which is good. But the devices itself is'nt really eco-friendly to make.

    2) Equipmentwise is there good lighting kit you would recommand that might drain less juice? Maybe with LED?

    What do you do?

LED lighting actually is fantastic stuff, we actually had all of our dancefloor lights switched out for LED equipment at the club we owned and it actually cut down our electricity usage by roughly 40% in the first month.

Its a little more expensive then regular lighting but it is well worth the investment.

    Regards,

    Lee

Uhm...well I know LED for lighting an appartment. But what about LED as lighting equipment for shooting? Have you ever tried those? Are they working as good as regular thungstend, halogen lighting?

I had watched a program about LED technology a while back that said "white" light from an LED was tough to pull off. Don't know if someone got that worked out or not. From personal experience conventional lighting rigs for film (I've done stunt work for some low budget movies which will go unnamed) tend to waste a lot of energy as heat (and are heavy as shit!)

Good luck to you in your endeavors to be more environmentally conscious!

if it is going to cost you some more to get the lights and stuff what is the point or are you going to start an ecoporn site do you think an eco porn site would sell good memberships?

LED is not the same as photographic fluorescent lighting (which is low power, green, and cool to the touch). LEDs at this point still have a lot of problems with correct color balance and their light output is much lower that tungsten, halogen, or fluorescent. However, fluorescent tubes from Home Depot are not suitable, you'll get very strange colors in your video. Look for professional fluorescent studio lighting. DVXuser ( http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/ ) has an excellent forum on lighting and you can find more info there than you probably ever wanted to know about everything related to film and video production.

I guess I will stick to what I'm already using. I guess LED will be much better in the next couple of years. Thanks for the link btw!
