Remove or Update Old Script Installations

I spent most of today following around behind NatNet as they cleaned off a domain where I had an old copy of Wordpress just hanging out not being used. Someone had managed to exploit it and hooked it up to show a different blog on my server and to also input some Amazon Wish List links into the blogroll.

It didn't end there ... as luck would have it, when the mess got deleted, it took the duplicated (legitimate) blog down with it. Luckily, they had a backup of the database and with a couple name adjustments they got it back up for me.

So a reminder to check your sites for old, unused scripts, or for ones that are in dire need of an upgrade and either remove them or get them current!

Ill typically run an upgrade and only ever 'remove' something if i no longer have a use for it.
