What Do You Think Of People Who Make Things Sound Like..

They have 'invented' something or 'added' something exclusive to their sites when in reality, they actually havent?

As an example, a year or two back, one gay board owner who thankfully is no longer around in the industry, was always touting 'his' latest script additions as if they were written and coded by himself and added to his board when in reality, all of these new 'exclusive' features were available for anyone to download and add from the VBulletin website.

Another guy recently has been singing the praises of some new features that he is adding to his affiliate program on GFY when in reality, all that he is going to be doing is implementing the new features from his billing processors but, that didnt stop him from making it sound like it was something 'exclusive' to him.

Is it just me or does this annoy anyone else and actually make them think the individual doing it is being somewhat less than honest and less trustworthy?

Ok I might get smacked down for this, but isn't that what marketing is all about? You make your site/board/what have you sound like you just created sliced bread?

A good marketing person will create or hype something even if they didn't do it to create a sensation, a feeling and grab attention...

Those people might irk you off, but in reality aren't you thinking about them a lot more then other peoples stuff?
