At What Point Do You Decide To Take A Site Down?

I was wondering, when it came to free sites, galleries, paysites, tgps or directories, at what point do you decide to take the site offline if it isnt generating traffic or sales for you?

The last week ive been re-working some of our landing pages with new layouts and ad specs, im going to be giving them a month or two to test how effective the redesigns actually are but, at what point do you think these should come down if they arent generating enough revenue to justify keeping them online?

Usually i will keep a site online indefinitely so long as it covers the yearly renewal fee for the domain, which these are, but at the same time, they are actually getting some good traffic but for whatever reason, that traffic just doesnt appear to be 'buying' like similar traffic levels do on other sites.

Your thoughts, should i just keep on re-working these landing pages or do you think i should cut my losses and take them down and redirect to a parking page?

    Regards,

    Lee

If you've got good traffic hitting the landing pages, why not, instead of a parking page, try links/hoste previews/whatever to affiliate programs appropriate to the traffic you're getting?

Maybe some other site will convert better than what you have up there, in which case you definitely win, and with a lot less work

I finally revamped 100porn.com as 90% of the sites I was promoting on it no longer existed. If a site has traffic, I'd play with bringing a site up to current web expectations, swap around who I'm promoting, and see how that does before dropping a site.

I'm more apt to drop a domain name that I never got around to developing, and realize it'll be a longgggggg time before I get around to doing whatever needs doing to get it live. Or I'll drop a name, that after i've had it for awhile, realize it isn't all that good a description for what I had in mind originally.

i usually leave my own galleries and freesites online forever as they sometimes pick up some interesting search engine traffic.

Even if they arent making sales?

Seems like keeping free sites and galleries online that are just pulling traffic but not making sales is just costing you money.

i know you told me a while back that i should keep my sites online for as long as possible but i removed some of my first websites becvause they were not selling anything for me and put that htaccess stuff you said on my domain to send the visitors to my main page i think it is good sometimes to take websites offline if they are not making any sales because it lets you try new things
