i have been working on basic free sites for the last few months but now i am wondering if i should be making more preferred style sites like what you find at places like ugas that have more pictures on them do you think adding more pictures to a free site is a good way to make more sales?
Not really.
But hey, go ahead and try it.
If you get different traffic because you are building different types of sites and getting the traffic for them in new ways, you might see more sales because of it.
If the traffic is the same, results will be roughly the same.
Yes and no, to some extent adding more pics actually can increase sales via way of getting surfers to bookmark your sites but, for the most part im a very firm beleiver in that we should be offering surfers LESS not more.
As Bill mentioned, if your traffic is coming from the same places, adding more content to your sites isnt really going to do much for you, ultimately your traffic source is limited not by the amount of pics you offer, but rather the amount of other sites they have available at the site linking to you.
Using GayDemon as an example, whilst GayDemon has a lot of traffic, im sure the vast majority of it is bookmarked traffic, meaning, they are surfers who for the most part, are coming back to the site, day after day, week after week, month after month, because they know they can get a constant stream of fresh, free content to view, because of this, adding new content isnt really going to help you acheive more sales, because those bookmark surfers, if they havent already purchased a membership from the ads on GayDemon, probably arent actually looking to buy.
Of course, there will be some surfers hitting GayDemon that are going to buy but, id wager for the most part that even if traffic increased on GayDemon because of bookmarkers, that those surfers, unless relatively new to the site, have already seen pretty much everything being offered in one way, shape or form and are only coming back to find 'new' stuff.
What you might find will actually work much better, rather than adding MORE content, make the content you are currently using clearer and bigger, so if you are using 160x120 thumbs, increase the thumb size to 240x180 or thereabouts, typically larger thumbs and better sized full pics result in higher clicks to your sponsors and ultimately, more sales.
Anyone who tells you that giving away more content is good for sales, is talking out of their ass.
By simply changing your thumbs, you will actually be able to judge whether GayDemon traffic is looking for quiality free content or, looking to buy, the same is true for any link list or TGP, the longer you submit to somewhere, the more content you are providing for free to the surfer and the site owner, in order for the site owner to build up their base of bookmarked traffic.... As a submitter, bookmarked traffic isnt a good thing, you want NEW traffic, not the same surfers who have found a source of high quality content and sites for free.
