Do You Own A SmartPhone?

With all the talk over the past few weeks about cellphone porn, i was curious to know how many of you folks actually owned a so-called 'smartphone' like a BlackBerry, Samsung Behold, IPhone, etc, etc?

I just can't be bothered with smartphones.

I think that it just gives people too much access to me - and I need to turn off my life once in a while and have set things up to support that.

Like we need anymore excuses to work. We need to find ways not to work!

Got my iPhone in June 2007.

Oh that means my contract is about to expire.

You should have heard AT+T cry 2 weeks ago before I left for Europe when I told them that I just might not renew!

An unlocked iPhone in Europe is $900. SIM cards are pretty much country-by-country.

No. Call me old fashioned, but a phone is for making phone calls and that's all what I need it for. Got a camera for taking photos, a computer or notebook for the internet and work and while I'm out and about I usually don't have the time to entertain myself with such a device.

Take a trip by car sometime, and use a SmartPhone for GPS. I sold my notebook after the second such adventure.

i used to run my hosting business from a whole series of smart phones before they were really popular (yeah they were bricks, but they worked)...but since getting out of that game I only have a simple mobile phone and my life is that much happier :high:

I have an iPhone, but I did not connect it to AT&T. Instead, I use Skype. Sure it does not work everywhere, but just about anywhere these days has someplace nearby with free wifi, so I can make any calls, check messages, email, etc.

I would NEVER pay for a cell phone, seems like a total waste of money to me. So, a smart phone with Skype was a great solution for someone like me who does not like to talk on the phone, but likes having a number where people can call and leave messages, then I can decide who to call back and when.

I guess you can put me in with the others who are more old school when it comes to this topic. I am fascinated with new gadgets and features, but find that I really only use the most basic features of most devices when it comes down to actual practice.

I was raised and educated without technology and it takes some getting used to not writing on the calendar on my desk, or jotting reminder notes on a real physical notepad.

I also tend to feel that all this need to be multi tasking constantly is a bit over rated.

The younger folks, though do seem to take to these devices more intuitively, and I have no problem with them being happy.

It just seems a bit busy to me.
