    Affiliate ID = XXXX

I’m finally setting up our affiliate program and I have a quick question (I’m sure there will be many, many more!)

I see a lot of hosted galleries, blogs, etc. where they have CC Bill affiliate ID = XXXX and tell you to replace it with your own. I’ve also seen where the ID = 123456 (or some other number) and they tell you to replace the ‘123456’ with your own ID.

I’m assuming in the latter case, it’s because if the link is just copied and pasted, the link will still give credit to someone.

My question is, where did the ‘123456’ number come from? Did the sponsor sign up to their own program to get their own number? Is it somewhere in CC Bill? I’ve looked though the menus on CC Bill but I’m still very confused with their entire website.

    Thanks,
    Jake

The first time you sign up with CCBill (as an affiliate, not as a porn distribution site) you are assigned an affiliate ID.

Anytime after that you sign up with CCBill you are giving a secondary affiliate # which is linked to your main account for purposes of payment, click and sale tracking, etc. That secondary number is commonly referred to as the PA#, as all CCBill URLs have a bit at the end that says "&PA=######".

To find your secondary affiliate #, the affiliate needs to log into CCBill. Then click on "tools". Then find the program on the list. The PA# is on the left under the column "Affiliate ID". If you wish, you can also click on "Get Banners" for that website. And inside the URL for the banner will be the full affiliate link to their website.

Frankly, it's a clunky and poor way of making affiliates find their linking code. And sometime it's made worse by the fact that some webmasters name their CCBill affiliate program "CCBill Affiliate Program" instead of "XYZ Porn Site Affiliate Program". Thus when you alphabetize your sites, you don't find your site under XYZ (or whatever). Very annoying, and CCBill should standardize affiliate names in their next version (if they ever get around to releasing one).

GayGeek is an affiliate of several hundred websites that use CCBill. Of those sites, three called their program "CCBill Affiliate Program" or somesuch. Two of them are obscure websites that don't matter very much. Amusingly, the third is Sean Cody. I'd call that a big oops on the part of their webmasters!

Thanks for all the information! I'm drinking it all up!

    I'm still looking for the answer to my question though. I'll try to re-word it;

As a sponsor program, where would I get my 6 digit number I can insert into my hosted galleries that I then tell the affiliates to replace with their 6 digit affiliate number?

    Best Regards,

Where you are asked to change the 123456 or whatever, it is because traffic that goes to that 123456 ID is making the program owner money, from places like the SE's where the program owner has made his own affiliate account and is sending his traffic through that ID to track.

    Oh, sorry, I misunderstood.

It's been many years since I worked with CCBill as a porn site (as opposed to an affiliate), but I should think you could find it in your account information easily enough.

Alternately, look at the HTML code for the links from your site that go to the CCBill signup pages. Your webmaster account number should easily be identifiable. Every website I deal with has a 6-digit number that starts with 9 if that helps. The 9##### number is usually followed by -0000, although it can be -0001, -0002, etc up to -0004 or so.

    Hi Lee, thanks for responding.

That's what I figured. So to clarify, the sponsor owner has signed up to his/her own program and received the affiliate ID number?

    Jake,

    Pretty much yep

You could also use XXXXXX if you wanted to but then you wouldnt actually have a way of tracking any in-house sales.

    Regards,

    Lee
