What Are Your Thoughts On Leased Feeds In A Members Area?

When it comes to paysite owners padding out their members area content with leased feeds, do you think this is a good or a bad thing and, more importantly, do you think that surfers look at this as a good or bad thing when they log in to a sites members area?

Part of me thinks that surfers joining a site shouldnt have to see leased feeds after all it wasnt the 'feeds' they joined a site to see but, on the other side of the coin, i can also see why some paysite operators need to pad their members areas out with leased feeds.

So what are your thoughts on leased members area feeds, are they a good thing, or a bad thing?

As a paysite that both leases content and has content on our sites from others, I think it really does help. Our site is LIVE 24/7 and there are things going on pretty much all the time, which makes us a good match for lots of sites looking to bolster their content with ever fresh updates. But this IS a reality site and as such, there are times when we are just tired and sleeping and having additional content for OUR members is helpful during "recovery/downtimes".
The key to making it work is to use content that compliments your site. If your site is niche-specific or a very specialized micro niche, make sure the leased content is in line with your member's desires. For example, if you run a twink schoolboy site, leasing content from GrannyTrannies.com would be a bad choice but a site that featured hidden cam shots/videos of 18-25 yr olds would be beneficial to member retention.
Another point to bring up is that the consumer today is looking for the most amount of content for the least amount of money out of their pocket, so by having additional content, you increase your own sites offerings with little to no work on your part!

I couldn't have said it better, I believe it's great for retention. That is where cam sites like LiveTwinksCam or CBL are beneficial to member sites. Once the customer has seen all of the member sites pics, videos, etc., they need something else to keep them coming back for more, that is where voyeur cam/reality sites come in handy to keep the customer recurring monthly.

Voyeur cam also adds the interactivity and the social site aspect that the customers enjoy; such as chatting, creating friendships/relationships with the models and other chatters and the entertainment of watching real life people essentially in a fish tank, LOL.

I would agree with everything both of you guys have said so far but with one caveat, what you guys have stated is only correct when the site owner is using the feeds to supplement their existing content collection and unfortunately, a lot of paysite owners (especially on the PPS side of the business) do not use feeds for this purpose, they use feeds as their only source of content.

I see what you mean, Lee. Then I would say no thank you. We don't have a CBL "White Label" program and quite frankly setting one up has never even been approached due to the fact that ALL of our content is already labeled as collegeboyslive.com!
My $0.02 , sites that offer content leased from other sites as their only source of content will eventually encounter a drastic reduction in retention as well as new member sign ups. Why? Because today's surfer is porn savvy. They can recognize regurgitated porn very quickly and with just a few companies offering "white label" content, market saturation will happen rather quickly.
I may be completely off, but that's my take on this subject.

I saw a similar post on another board. I believe the conclusion was that adding updates a bit more frequently would better than adding a feed. You can also get a better retention that way.

Id tend to agree with that, we dont use any feeds at all inside the Condom Cash members area and we update each and every day of the week at midnight and members stick around for an average of 3-6 months.

I still have members logging in to some of the sites from when they joined 3 years ago.

That being said, i do beleive there is a place for leased feeds inside a members area though just so long as they are used responsibly, not like how SicCash and those types of sites use them.... In lieu of 'actual' content.
