scenes needed to start a site ?

    Hi,

i know we have been over this before but i would like to revisit and hope to have some input from people who have successfully started an affiliate program in the past..

I am planning my first affiliate paysite and was wondering what number of scenes do you think a site needs to have to do an "open" tour and still be attractive to affiliates and surfers alike ?

any does and donts you would like to share to someone who hasnt run an affiliate program before ?

The only amount of content you need to actually get a site open is the minimum required by Visa in the members area.

Typically, when im working on getting a new site ready to launch i will submit it to CCBill and a week or so later, will get Visa approval on the members area... Sometimes with only 10 photo sets and 2 movie scenes in the actual members area itself.

After Visa approval the amount of content get significantly increased, right now i think my smallest site (in terms of members area content) for a new program im working on has 100+ movie scenes and close to 500 image sets.

Each week as i add more content to our CMS and get it categorized this number increases.

At the moment, Solo Cocks from Condom Cash has around 450 movie scenes in its members area and pretty close to 2500 full image sets, with new sets added daily.

Ultimately, it will depend on the niche of site, i know some PPS programs who literally have 8 exclusive movie scenes and the same 8 scenes used as screengrabs for their image content and the sites sell fantastically

    Bottom line though is this...

How much content do YOU want to have in your members area for whatever price points you are going to be charging because whether an affiliate or customer is asked, the answer will always be the same... There isnt enough.

If you feel comfortable giving access to a members area with 1,000,000+ images in it and over 500 movie scenes for $29.95 and you know you can turn a profit on those numbers, go for it.

    Regards,

    Lee

well as i am looking to start from scratch with exclusive content i dont think the option for me is to just throw tons of scenes in there and hope for the best - dont think the budget will allow for that at all..

I guess i could try with 12-15 for starters and then just go from there on the updates...

however with 12-15 i probably shouldnt do an "open tour" setup but that is easily fixed later on.

dude, i've seen tons of new sites that show all their episodes - many started with between 7 and 12. as long as you don't TELL the surfers that's all your content, they won't think about it one way or the other.

I think minimum 10 scenes, and with weekly updates.

When I started AaronLawrence.com as a paysite back in... egads, was it 2001? I had 8 photo sets and no video scenes as well as eight more photo sets in the queue to appear weekly. (Video wasn't very good back in those days because dial-up connections were still so popular).

Admitted, I was already a high traffic site because I had been marketing myself as an escort and had a lot of fans following my adventures so it helped attract members.

But I agree with the other writers. 8-12 scenes seems to be about right. Although the outside of your site should be honest. If you don't have a lot of established content, then tout the regular update schedule.

One bit of advice. Post dates alongside your current and upcoming releases and stick to a regular schedule. Users are becoming increasingly wary about sites that don't promise a set release schedule or don't announce the dates of their releases. Review sites like mine also look for the practiced release schedule (which is often different than what the site publicly claims to practice).

We've always had a "25 rule." Launch with 25 of something total. For instance 20 image sets and 5 videos, 20 videos and 5 image sets, or 15 image sets and 10 videos, etc.

And then of course the weekly updates. When we launch a site, we launch with the 25 rule. Then we add 1 new image set and 1 new video set every Friday. We've found this works and it keeps our members recurring.

the image sets you use are they from the video shoot or are they "stand alone" with no connection to the videos ?

thats one way of doing it for sure - i want to go the exclusive content route as the site i will open is very niche based and i think it will give me better results in the long run...

one problem with what you write below is that the members that have already bought a membership will still expect an update even if you dont sell new memberships but am sure you didnt mean it like you wrote it anyways..
