New Information on the TMM "Soccer Mom" Lawsuit

    http://www.xbiz.com/news/110070

She wasn't a "security expert" that accidentally stumbled upon NATS doing nefarious things.

She was trying to rid the Internet of porn.

Those who thought TMM was bullying her got it all wrong. John @ TMM always said to be patient and the whole story would start coming out.

    The spigot is opening...

TMM should get a thank you for taking this lady on. She has to be made an example of so that others do not come along and try to do the same thing.

Her plan, although ultimately a failure, was brilliant. Go after NATS and cause problems for a ton of pay sites and affiliates. Problems that may have put many people out of business.

If she had gotten away with it, she could have easily have tried the same thing against CCBill or any other company for that matter.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what she did. I admit I hadn't heard of this story before today, but it sounds from that article that she was aiming to undermine the credibility of NATS and Too Much Media as a reliable and secure piece of software from an honest company.

Is there more that I missed? Obviously she's an anti-porn activist, but beyond that?

Thats pretty much how NATs/TMM painted her in court documents when in reality what she was doing is bringing light to some major security issues... Not just with NATs i might add.

I actually really like how one week Xbiz paints this poor woman as a hero, then a few weeks later makes her look like the anti-christ... I guess it gets them page views though.

Say what you will about the reporting done by xbiz... the bottom line is that the judge decided that her message board postings were actionable that she is not shielded by the newsersons privledge.

I said from the beginning that this woman was on a mission all the while having to tip-toe around first amendment arguments from others on this board. I am glad to hear that TMM is making some headway in this case. Message boards are not bathroom walls and when you bring up allegations of another company they should be backed up.

    Joe,

Of course the judge did... Most judges rule in favor of the complainant when it comes to 'internets' related stuff because they simply dont understand the whole 'internets' thing....

This is one of the reasons ive been saying for years that the laws need to be re-written they simply dont make any sense when it comes to web related issues because when they were written.. The web didnt exist.

Right or wrong, this person was providing a newsworthy service on her blog, nobody else was going to inform users of programs/scripts/processors that there were major security flaws.

    Regards,

    Lee
