    New Google Group for thieves

Apologies if there is a dedicated thread for this? (I searched thieve, steal and stolen - but found nothing - can a kind Mod move if necessary?)

They're trying to keep the new group quiet - but I think it'd be far better to make some noise about it! You'll need a fake gmail account, and then email this guy; topposter1969@gmail.com to get signed up. He calls himself Dave.

    Happy DMCA noticing!

I know. It totally baffles me what people do sometimes. I still don't understand why there are so many monetized adult blogs on Blogger, and going strong at least in terms of visitors, when Google explicity states that adult monetized blogs are not allowed on Blooger. That's just a start.

I could be wrong and I hope I'm not, but I'm sure if you make enough noise about this then Google will have the group shut down. Let's friggin' hope so anyway. Nice find man.

As far as why people do it? The only thing I can come up with is that it's about the money here and now and not about the consequences down the line. Believe it or not though, some people don't even do it for the money. About 2 years ago I had an exchange with someone in a bar who said he used to sign up on porn sites - straight and gay - download videos from the sites and post the full versions on his blog. No links to the sponsors, no nothing. He wasn't even reselling them. He simply believed that porn should be free so he was providing it. He of course was shut down and he stopped having anything to do with porn online after that. I couldn't believe my ears when he was telling this, but I guess it does happen.

Now that is rare as most are doing it to make a profit I would imagine. Otherwise, why take the risk? The mentality of some people just blows my mind sometimes.

    I certainly can relate, Jeff.

Just saw this smilie and it reminds me of how I feel about all this. I just sit and watch and wonder. :frog:

But I have mixed feelings about part of this. I think it's fine for people to be creative, to have a blog about something they like and want to share. In fact, I think it's wonderful. Of course, I have just the opposite feeling about stealing...and blatantly not caring about in the least. This is only a guess, but I think despite how much the internet has become a part of our daily lives, many people still don't understand the reality of it. Sitting at home, at your own computer, and in a couple of easy clicks so to speak, and anyone can pirate almost anything and post it. And there's nobody standing around to catch you. I think many people don't think or fully understand. It's different when you're in a store. Most people know it's wrong to reach out and put merchandise in their pocket and walk off. And if nothing else, there's a much greater chance of getting caught and paying consequences. Who knows, but I suspect that not all but a lot of people are less desperate and more stupid about what they are doing when it comes to piracy on the internet. I've had very frustrating discussions with some people about the laws, and they still don't take it seriously. Often they say: 1. everyone is doing it, and 2. who is ever going to find out anyway. They even get kind of angry with me. Ugh!

Oh, and on a similar note - I see that the 'community' @ gayheaven.org have had their XXX sections shut down. They were boasting a membership of 22,000!

    not just this one

    Guys,
In the last month alone I've compiled over (seriously) 500,000 links to full movies and picsets (on rapidshare, sendspace, hotfile etc..) all from just yahoo groups and google groups that I have joined. I completely understand that some webmasters might be using these groups for advertising but when I see messages being sent out to group members with the t!tl3s m3$$3d up and telling people not to post messages with the studio name, I doubt the post is legit or authorized.

Ive sent a ton to rapidshare and sendspace, since they both have policies against adult material (I know..I know..) and the users tend to laugh and repost..but check this out...here is one message from a user

Subject: [G_M_A_PS_L] New RS link for catalogs of websites' vids
    To: Cinema_Share@yahoogroups.com, gay_movies_and_pictureset_links@yahoogroups.com, V_D_441 yahoo group <V_D_441@yahoogroups.com>

I don't know why, but the RS link for my catalogs of videos from various websites has changed. Here's the new one:

    rapidshare.com/users/7J73JU

And here's the SS link again for the same files: sendspace.com/folder/v990lu

Its not juts my own stuff, Ive found full materials from EVERYONE being distributed in the groups..some of them have even found a way to monetize OUR content

this guy, will sell you access to 'his' rapidshare link lists shop.magicbord.de/

Everyone seems to think that this is hopeless to try to resolve but if enough of us pressure google and yahoo to stop the piracy in these groups, they will HAVE TO respond, and at least make the process more efficient (its the same people posting over and over anyways). If the RIAA can get $675,000 from a student for posting 30 songs, it kind of makes you wonder. And the bottom line is piracy is theft.

I hope the two are not related.
HotFile pays for user's downloads over a 1000 count.
    Over a thousand? OMG
    Give me a break.

Are we now expected to pay for another download server and switch to that?
And not think they will also snip our files when complaints come?
Or use this service as a freeloader, and put up with the time limits?
Are HotFile users killing our RapidShare files?

I have been waiting for Google to stop our fun groups.
Looks like the members will be the cause of it's demise.
