How many tour pages before you get to the Join page?
How many videos per page?
What length for each video?
How many sample stills per page?
Thanks.

The least amount as possible... More tour pages means more chance the surfer will see something they dont like and click off your site.
None... Its a known fact that videos on tours kill conversions, many surfers will just beat off to the sample movies and leave for the next site with videos on their tour.
As for sample stills, however many it takes to detail what works for your niche, i have seen sites with 1 large still on the tour page/pages and sites with 20+ stills on the tour page/pages.

It's interesting you say "no videos" cause I see them on every tour I can think of.

A lot of heavy-hitters on the straight side of the business who are very well respected all say that videos kill conversions to paysites.
I guess a perfect example is the tube phenomenon, over the past 2 years conversion ratios have dropped significantly... Because surfers can now get access to millions upon millions of movie files for free.
You could always run a test, build two tours, one with video, one without and send the same amount and quality of traffic to both, i guarantee you that you will see a decline in sales on the tour with videos on it when compared to the non-video tour.

Here's a good thread on GFY about the subject of trailers on a tour from a week or so back...
http://www.gfyboard.com/showthread.php?t=914463
EscortBiz is very well respected in the industry and knows his stuff when it comes to generating sales and traffic.
You'll have to excuse the 'zoo' factor at the end of the first page and on the 2nd page though, as with every business thread on GFY it inevitably ends up turning in to a cluster fuck once the trolls get started.

Well what about a small video that is just a simple tease?? just enough to get the viewer hooked but to finish it off you gotta join?? wouldn't that be more effective?
that way the people looking for free porn do not get enough..and it is a sample of what is inside.
:wolf:
Paul,
Indeed it would, the problem is, many people do not know how to edit/compose movies so that they tease, without giving away the horse with the cart.
There is also a faction in the industry that beleives in order for a video to work as a trailer, it needs to show hardcore, be over 5 minutes in length and that the video trailers need to be updated every single day.. The people who beleive and practice this, are actually killing sales for everyone.
A good teaser trailer IMHO should be no longer than 30 seconds, not show any hardcore (or show blurred out hardcore) and definitely not show any cumshot.... Surfers are supposed to be paying to see the cumshot

, it's funny but if the first thing I see is "flash presentation" or "media player" prompt I leave the site , and don't even think about asking me for my birthdate info in order to gain access!
jim
i am the same way if a site has a flash or media player plugin wanting to be installed i will not bother and leave to find another one
I've taken advice from a couple boards and working on some fast moving sample videos. The problem is, I have a big site covering multiple niches that is not easily explained without visual aids.
I will be posting some clips for review and comments asap.

Then imho, you should simplify the site itself, even if it means breaking the site up in to smaller, niche specific sites.
If something is to complicated to explain without the need of 'aids' then the basics are wrong.
Most surfers are not going to stick around long enough for you to explain to them what you are charging for, they want to hit a site, find a guy they like and join... No fuss, no frills, no gimmicks... Get 'em in, get 'em to join, get 'em off... As quickly as possible.

Lee
