A Sign Of The Times?

Has anyone else noticed a LOT of so-called industry veterans posting on the various boards lately looking for 'work'?

It seems in the past month a lot of people who have been in the business for 8-10 years are actually posting on the larger boards almost begging to get hired.

I personally dont understand how someone who has been working in the biz as long as that would have to go to the boards looking for work.

The adult industry, as you know - tends to have its up-and-down trends...depending on a wide range of issues, economics, surfer demographics, political issues...you name it.

Maybe several of these factors have pooled together for a number of veteran webmasters and are affecting their overall bottom line for revenue.

We've gone through dry spells in the past - usually after we've been forced to switch payment processors and/or hosting services. A few years ago we had to switch both our hosting and processor in a relatively short time, and weren't able to transfer recurring membership accounts. Basically we were back to square one - having to regain sales momentum from scratch. It took us a while to claw our way back to previous sales levels.

Hard to say for sure what's happening with other industry veterans. I'm sure there's a different explanation for each of them. Perhaps some aren't able to cope with revenue losses and are pushing the panic button...willing to take on anything that'll help them out financially. <shrug>

A number of people on the forums have a career working for others in the adult industry. Also, putting in your time as an employee does have the advantage of steady income compared to the vagaries of sales income.

yes i think a lot of people have started to learn that just because they were in the porn biz a while it does not mean they will be making money that they once did because of the economy and much competitions i think also a lot is because some people just keep doing what they are used to using the same sponsor programs and same traffic places without trying new stuff so when one of there programs does not convert any more they are not ready to change

Sectors of this biz are a blasted heath these days.

Probably get worse too.

I know lots of linklist owners have folded or sold, tgps/mgps changing into tubes or folding, if you were in the traffic sourcing sector chances are real good you've been suffering.
