With the popularity of tube sites rising more and more i actually wondered what made these types of site become so popular and i think to some extent it has to do with the natural evolution of adult content.

For example, when online porn started, content was pretty much text (stories) with some audio or images, the it shifted to smaller image sites, only really offering 10 or less pictures as 'teasers' to join a larger site (often having no more than 500 pics in them) then we shifted again to more images on a site, between 16-20 which was the norm for many years, slowly however this figure gre and grew as being required for a minimum amount of pics.

Then we jump about 5 years and movie clips became the popular content to have, often clips would be between 10-25 seconds in length, with no more than 60 seconds in total being required on a free site or gallery, then we had a boom in exclusive content sites, movies and images all shot exclusively for program owners, this led to programs offering up more and more of their exclusive content being offered to affiliates, which in turn meant more and more affiliates were able to use more and more pics and movies on their sites.

Once content providers realized this, they then started approaching companies to resell their older DVD titles, which lead to an increase in popularity of movie and reality style paysites, which further increased in the popularity of using movie clips as free teasers to induce a surfer in to joining a paysite.

Jump to the present day, we now have people using full scenes from DVDs or exclusive content as teaser content on their free sites, tubes and blogs as teaser clips.

In the space of about 15 years, adult content has evolved from giving out text based content only to offering up full 15-30 minute movie scenes, that is actually quite worrying, given the relatively short space of time 15 years is in terms of how the internet is still for all intents and purposes in its infancy.

Im just wondering how the next stage in content evolution is going to affect the industry overall and more importantly, what this next stage will actually be in terms of 'content', are we going to be offering up full DVDs as teaser content, maybe live cam feeds will be the next stage or maybe it will be something else, what do you folks think?

Lee
