how to know if a site sells well before i promote it

i wanted to know how i would know if a site is selling good before i start to send my traffics to it is there any way of knnowing this apart from listening to what the site owner says it conversion ratio is at?

No real way to tell. You have to do tests.

experience. it's been years since i was wrong about whether a site will sell for me or not.

You really cant tell, even after 10yrs in the biz i still cant tell whether a site will sell or not just by looking at it, hell we have some sites of our own that i thought would sell like hotcakes but didnt and we also have sites that i thought wouldnt sell that sell like crazy.

The easiest way to tell is to send 1000 hits to a site and see how well it converts for you, thats typically what i do these days when promoting a new sponsor, if they cant generate at least 2 sales for on that 1000 hits ill redirect the traffic back to where i know it converts.

Unfortunately, surfers are weird, what should work often doesnt, and what shouldnt often does.

Also, just because a site sells for you, doesnt mean it will for others, and vice versa.
