    Incentivized Traffic In Adult

One of my affiliate reps in mainstream is pushing me to run an offer which can be incentivized.

And that made me think, I have never seen that done in adult. Why is that? Chargeback/refund ratio problems?

Granted, for the merchant incentivized traffic is mostly junk be that it's people looking for freebies and such but still..

or are the tgps/free sites with sponsor content our version of freebies/incentives?

    hmmm

Can you explain what you mean by incentivized?

I always figured getting a commission on a sale was incentive enough LOL

do you mean like giving stuff away to traffic so that surfers will join? we already do that with free pics and video clips, plus of course cheap trials.

you give the surfer something to get them to complete the action required for you to get paid

i.e. $5 to fill out a survey, enter email, try a product etc

so what type of incentives do you think would work in the adult industry? I am always keen on hearing new ideas (or ideas from mainstream adapted to our biz).

Thats typically frowned upon by adult companies, the incentive that is most typically tested and used over the years is telling the surfer to signup, prove they have a membership and the affiliate will 'send' the surfer $10 or so.

Of course, when they are sending the surfer to a paysite that has a $3 trial and getting $40 for it, the program owner isnt to happy about it

Good question and not one that I can answer I think.

primarily because adult has to deal with the 1% chargeback ratio, not running my own site I dont understand the dynamics involved so I don't know

    I was offered $55 on a $120-ish re-bill, $6.95 s/h for the customer,
with incentivising allowed by the merchant, though I didn't ask yet if they allow cash incentives.

I've seen merchants who allow incentivizing with caveats ie can't offer cash. One allowed only Facebook virtual money

The other problem is keeping the freeloaders out. There are whole forums out there with people doing nothing but either signing up for freebie sites, or the 'get a free iPod/tv/wii' types, where you sign up for X offers on page 1, X offers on page 2, X offers on page three and earn points etc ... and others who run their own sites.

The latest big thing is getting software for free in exchange for say signing up for a Netflix trial ...

The only thing that I can see adult having problem with is the chargebacks perhaps? Although it's a multitude of times easier to cancel a porn membership than some of those Acai offers.
