Ray.. I Have A StrongBox Question For You...

The license for StrongBox when it comes to the installation and how many members areas per paysite it can protect specifically....

Lets say i have 1 paysite that actually has 4 different members areas, would it be possible to purchase a single StrongBox license and have that one copy protect all 4 members areas or, would each members area need its own license of the software?

    Or, better yet...

Is there a way that it could be a single install but somehow set to redirect to a specific members area in a paysite if there were 'multiple' members areas?

    Regards,

    Lee

    Hey Lee,

If I understand you correctly, I think this may work for you, it's how we link our multiple member areas toghether:

HANDOFF FOR SECURE LINKS BETWEEN SITES

If you have more than one Strongbox protected
site you can use the Strongbox handoff function
to link the members' area of one site to the members'
area of another in a cryptographically secure fashion.
The syntax for doing so is a bit weird. Typically
you create a link that looks like this:

    a href="/cgi-bin/sblogin/handoff2.cgi?site=other.com"

The above link will take the user to the main members'
page of the other.com site. If you'd like to send them
to some other page on the remote site you can use
    this strange URL syntax:

    /cgi-bin/sblogin/handoff2.cgi?site=other.com&path=/members/galallery2/

The above URL would end up sending them to:
    other.com/members/gallery2/

Note that in order to link sites in this way
they must have the same secret key set in config.pl.
When I setup more than one site for the same person
I try to remember to set them all the same, but
if you did one last year and are just doing another
now I may not have remembered where to find your
    old one.

If there are four separate members' areas, that's likely to be four sites - I can't think
of any reason a single site would have four separate members' areas, though you
might have many if you were selling individual videos. Even f it is four sites you
wouldn't necessarily need four licenses of Strongbox, because we'd likely cut you
a deal. I'm curious to see just what you're doing.

That's normally what we'd do if they are all on the same host name (domain name
without "subdomains"). Then besides redirecting them to the right place it's normally
also necessary to make sure they only have access to that one area - they can't
type in the URL of a different members' area after they log in. There's a nominal
charge for setting up the four different areas in this configuration.

As far as license cost this kind of thing is where we have to look at a particular
set up and give someone a fair deal based on common sense. Occasionally we
have someone come along with 15 entirely separate sites, for which they bill the
punter separately, using several different billing companies, CMS systems, etc.,
and they want us to set them all up for $150. To their affiliates they advertise their
network of 15 sites, but try to tell us it's one site, on cluster of three servers. They
say "it's all on one domain". We can respond saying our site says Strongbox is
priced "per site", there's no mention anywhere of "per domain". Besides, "com" is
a domain too, and we're doing every "subdomain" of com all for $150. This is
where common sense comes in so I can't post a single hard and fast rule. If I did
someone would try to take advantage "on GWW you said ...".
