do animation banners use more bandwidth

like when an animated banner goes through the first cycle and reloads is it reloading everything over again and again each time or not i have a friend trying to tell me that if i use an animation on a banner for my site it will make me use up more of my bandwidths because of the animation on the banner

No, the banner only loads once, the size of the file, just like static banners.

As nicedreams said, it generally loads everything only once, but it's also true that
an animated banner is often two or three times the size of a static banner. That's
an animated GIF. Flash banners can burn ten or twenty times the bandwidth of a
good GIF, and Flash can sometimes reload the same thing over and over again.
