    I Wonder? Needing paysite advice.

Here's the time line of events. I re-launched my paysite GhettoThugs.com officially on Saturday evening, processing with Zombaio. The site had a trickle of 30-40 uniques per day from search engines and other random sources over the years it's been online. This morning (Tuesday), two of my ad buys went live - one text link at the top of WorldSex.com and a text link at the top of HornySilver.com. It's Tuesday afternoon, the spots have been live now for approximately 6 hours, and traffic is coming in at a reasonable pace.

Not a single sale has been generated since the re-launch. I'm posting this because A. I'm nervous. B. I want to identify a problem early on, and fix it. C. I want to make sure I haven't committed some sort of grave error in the design of the new site.

Can a couple of you check the site and tell me what might be going on? I really just need to calm my nerves. My site right now is entirely solo. Could that be the problem? It sold fine in years past... Is intense hardcore content needed these days in order to see serious sales?

Am I just being a sales hypochondriac? Should I just let it go and stop being paranoid?

your layout looks broken cuz all I can see is some awkward narrow, vertical and red bar with what looks like two miniature and old quicktime players in a row which in turn is 6 rows long.

Now switching from my iPhone to my 24" screen doesn't make it better

IMHO you should redesign again and actually have a design and layout for your users, make it WAY wider... 950px should be ok...

Others here are much much MUCH better in design than I am but a narrow vertical bar....

To be honest, your tour looks more like a movie gallery than a paysite, its a little on the empty side, there isnt any text there to do any pre-selling for you, in essence, the people who are hitting your site are getting some free porn and that is about it.

Take a look at some of the designers portfolios and see how different their sites are to yours, a good place to start is http://www.thumbdesigner.com and http://www.curvology.com

I've tested the site in Opera, IE 6, 7 & 8 as well as Safari and Firefox on a Mac and I haven't witnessed the issue you're referring to. You should be seeing a JW Player window, not a Quicktime one.

Can you please post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

If that isn't designed for cell phones ... you really need to jump up the tour and overall design to at least look good at a 1024x resolution. (950-990 pixel wide table minimum).

Get a bit of information going on, you have links to members, signup and FAQ which starts out with "i'm having trouble with" .... not all that conducive to establishing a fun time scenario/mood on your site.

    Lee,
Someone else told me the same thing, but I believe the site leads them towards a path to purchasing a membership. I'll redesign it if I need to, but I have always felt like this layout would rock if implemented...

Oh you're talking about the thumbs. That was a design element that is supposed to get people to click.

I've heard the suggestion that I add sales text and "flare", but as far as the FAQ, it's designed to answer people's frequently asked questions... AKA to answer the most likely issues instead of emailing me asking about login / password issues, etc. What part of the FAQ should be a fun time / mood setting element?

The highest resolution cell phones (iPhone, Blackberry Bold, and Blackberry Tour) are 480 x 320 resolution. This tour is 600 px wide. I wanted something compatible with low resolution monitors that a lot of people still have.

You may be losing them on the zombaio website. I would change the wording about "Please visit our authorized sales agent." Makes it sound like the surfer should go there to buy access to the site but of course it's not a signup page, it's Zombaio's normal entrance page. At the point, the surfer may be confused and just give up and close the browser tab. Better to put something about questions or problems regarding billing in your FAQ page with a link to zombaio.

It wont. I really cant say it any clearer than that, if you have spent money on ads, ask if you can have them pulled until you redesign the site otherwise all of that traffic is just being wasted.

Alternately, have that traffic sent to an affiliate programs paysite so you can at least make something from the traffic you are sending.

    Lee

You're missing my point --- the FAQ is about the only thing to read to get some idea of what your site is about... and if that's all there is, it isn't going to sell your site. FAQ is for inside the member area, not part of your tour.
