GoDaddy Changing it's terms

Has Godaddy changed it terms?

I just got a whopping charge on my CC for full price domain renewals.

I wasn't notified in advance, they refuse to give me a coupon credit and worst of all NONE OF MY DOMAINS WERE ON AUTO RENEW WITH THEM EVER. After checking my GoDaddy account I find that now ALL my domains have been changed to auto renew.

Anyone else experience this with them?

What would you do in response?

I just checked my account and its not been changed at all, I have a few select domains that I am letting expire and they are still set to 'no auto renew', I even have 3 that expired last week and they did actually expire.

Get in touch with them to ask whats going on, they are usually good about responding withing 24 hours.

Thanks for the advice Luke. I contacted them, they said they could not credit the charges back and let me use the coupon code.

This is the first time I can remember ever paying full price for Godaddy domains.

I did a quick Google search and found other people encountering the problem as far back as 2007.

The odd thing is they used my bankcard, which I only used once with them to purchase my last domain.

Godaddy keeps your payment info on file.

When registering a domain name the auto renew is automatically set to ON

No changes in their TOS as far as I know

I dunno. I've been with them for years and never had a domain auto renew. Now all of a sudden a load of them auto renew, at the same time, with the last card I only used once with them.

I went into my account, took all domains off auto renew, and deleted all payment info except for an expired CC, so I hopefully wont have this problem again.

It sounds to me like you have consolidated (some of) your domain names

that's surprising, every time I have contacted them for financial issues (like domain transfers that fail) they have given me a credit. I am right along with you, I have never paid full price for any godaddy domains or renewals either.

you might have missed something on the order page when you made your first purchase i did that a while ago and also signed up for their hosting without knowing about it!

I had gotten an email a few weeks back saying that ________ would auto renew soon, I was a bit surprised cause I hardly EVER set domains to auto renew, so I logged into my account and no shit ALL of my domains were set to Auto-Renew.

I turned them all off, and logged off and logged back on,now all but 3 are set to Manual (the other 3 I WANT to auto renew)
