Is There A Way To Install Software If A CD Drive Is Broken?

So Ryans CD drive on his laptop finally gave up last night and i was wondering if you folks knew of a way to install software on CD without actually using a CD drive?

Does anyone know if it is possible to copy the CD contents to a flash drive for example and have him install the titles that way?

    Regards,

    Lee

    Hi

Depending on the program you should be able to; just use another computer to copy the whole disk to the flash drive and then run setup or whatever from the flash drive.

Some programs (especially high end ones) may not allow this but most should.

Over your local network too, if you have one.

I'm no networking expert but I've done it before. On a Windows machine you should just be able to right click on the drive in Windows Explorer and network/share it & set permissions, etc. You'll probably get a warning about the security risks...

Then, go to your machine with the broken drive, browse the network and you should see the drive and be able to install from there. Like thejungle said above, some programs may not allow it.
