Is Anyone Else Starting To Notice....

That programs are cutting their online 'affiliate' promotional budgets back and instead are opting to start promoting their products and services directly to consumers of porn over the past 12 months?

It seems that webmaster affiliates have become a dying breed to many program so instad of spending the majority of their time and effort on affiliates a lot of companies i have been talking to over the past few months have been telling me that they are focusing more on the consumer side of the business promotion.

Do you think this is because consumers are less 'savvy' when it comes to being marketed to by porn companies or do you think we truly have hit a level of saturation in terms of the amount of programs out there that returns are just to low for companies to be spending money on attracting new affiliates, especially when hiring board whores is much cheaper for them?

    Your thoughts?

    Regards,

    Lee

its a natural progression that started out with sponsors making FHGs. Its now gotten to the point where sponsors do 90% of the work making free hosted galleries, sites, flv and mp4 promo clips, tube sites and rss feeds, PLUS most sponsors also run half-decent linklists, TGP sites and directories. And to do all this, most affiliate programs need to hire people.

...so why not cover off that remaining 10% of work by making your own blogs and promo sites and listing them on your own linklists and directories....and reap the benefit of no rev-sharing or affiliate payouts.

Consumer are now aware of the major porn "brands" and now go directly to the originator of the content rather than going through a middleman.

Also, why pay out half or more to get a sale?

    Content is still king.
