Why flash?

I've noticed a lot of webmasters asking for flash clips for affiliate content as well as use on the tour of different pay sites. A while back I took a look at creating some flash type preview files and found that the file size is no smaller, the load time is no faster, and the picture quality is no better than using WMV. Blog software and tube sites all accept WMV just as easily as flash so...

what is the big deal with flash?

Since the popularity of You Tube flash has been what all the 'cool kids' want to play with basically.

Im also of the understanding that if encoded properly, flash files actually are smaller in size than other media types when displaying the same quality of video, etc...

and it's a more ubquios format too that can be played in any OS

yeah with new encoding, flash files look WAY better for the same size. And more imporantly, flash is installed on like 99% of all browsing clients now, including macs and mobile devices, so it gets rid of that whole compatability issue.

And flash saves on bandwidth transfer when the user only watches a portion of the file.

I am just building a tube site. The tube script allows only flash files. If I like to have a script which can also convert other files to flash, it will cost me another script. This will double the price of the software and additional I had to host the flash files by myself, what also cost a lot of traffic.

This doesn't pay out with the affiliate commissions to earn.

If you buy yourself a copy of Pinnacle Studio V 12 or high, you can convert to Flash on your own and upload them that way....... And Studio is very cheap when compared to Adobe Premiere..... Under $100.

Compatibility and installed user base. There are more users with Flash player installed than any other player. And it is compatible with both PC and MAC.

Well, there are also a lot of good converter out for free. But you have to convert it manually and still host the files by your self. Most affiliates won't do this, because the golden times of making easy money as an affiliate are gone.
