Sponsor Hosted RSS Feed Question....

When it comes to the RSS feeds that you are currently utilizing on your blogs, are you typically using feeds that are specifif to a site or specific to a niche?

By that i mean, is the feed you are utilizing only promoting a specific site in the sponsor programs collection or, are they offering up a niche feed and attempting to sell multiple site options in each of the niche specific feeds you utilize?

Well, it depends. When i promote strictly one site per blog then i use only rss feed for that specific site. If blog promotes several sites i use niche rss feeds.

I far prefer niche RSS feeds. If I get only one feed for a paysite, I choose which niche blog best fits the paysite.

I match niched feeds to niched blogs, uk boys to http://twinklads.com, bears to http://cravebears.com, and so on. I use the full sponsor feed for all their websites only when I have a blog devoted entirely to that program like I do here http://brokestraightboys.sexusblog.com/

my ole' networks are niche oriented.. while it may be a bit broad, it does offer a wider menu for the surfers to choose from.. and with the inconsistency and stale RSS feeds generally out there.. you want to mix things up as much as possible....

on the other side of the coin, site specific blogs can have significant impact on search terms of uber targeted prospects... but the fact that they know the name of the site to search for.. does it mean good branding and they're ready to join or they just are looking for more free content by that site?

I see no reason for a program owner to decide on this, thats why we offer both niche-specific and site-specific feeds - we let the affiliate choose what they want to use

Niched and Morphed.

If the programs you promote dont have morphed you can get a morpher for them or use programs Like the ones in my sig.. ( Selfless plug )

I am sorry but morphing feeds are usually horrible, the text generally makes no sense at all. It makes much more sense to go buy a copy of Blogs Organizer or Blogs Automator and do your own custom morphing by adding headers, footers and replacing key words with others that make sense.

You're right that automated scripts will totally mangle your posts and not make sense but that is generally restricted to people who use automated software and solely global variables. Only morphing that uses inline synonyms written specifically for each post, mixed with a few global (automatic) synonyms for richer morphing can ensure you a better shot at a sensible and effective blog post :cowboy:
