    Search engine optimization help

I was just reading up on some SEO stuff and im a little bit confused. When i use metatags in my sites HTML code, are all of the search engines actually reading this or not? There seems to be a lot of mis information about what works and what doesnt. Also, what works for certain search engines ver others? Do any of you know anything about search engines and offer advice?

Use alt="" in your image tags just to be safe.

Keep your meta tags whether the read them or not, they do.

Use meta tags to describe the page in general, most important words listed first.

Use alt="fill in keywords here" to describe each photo or graphic. Be careful not to stuff to much!

make use of meta keywords and meta description

also make sure each relevant picture has an alternative description (alt attribute) which describes what is on the picture with a few words so that if you would turn pictures off you still would not loose the "content" of the picture.
A picture title (title attribute) along with the img tag is also allowed and in the html specifications - be precise

Links may also have a title attribute (stay relevant).

Don't do keyword stuffing (repeating keywords for a large amount) but rather rephrase and just write about the theme.

Think about how you wrote an essay in school, e.g. about "Sweetwater Dolphins in southern Florida" - about how many times would "Sweetwater Dolphins in southern Florida" appear in your essay and most importantly WHERE? An essay consists of different parts.

When I would for example about those sweetwater dolphins in southern florida I would make sure that those sweetwater dolphins are mentioned somewhere near florida or the southern part of florida. It surely does not matter where in Florida those dolphins roam and wether it is sweetwater lakes or the edges in the ocean where sweetwater and saltwater mix up. the dolphins in florida are where they are - in southern florida.

Now reading that last paragraph again and not taking into account I told you I would write about "Sweetwater Dolphins in southern Florida" you instantly know what it is about with just a few lines of text...

Google is not dumb and google knows what your text is about in general, mix in the keyword you like, rephrase it, put some "fill words" between your keywords so that the words are next, near or close to each other.

Example: Joshs big dick is one of the biggest dicks I ever seen. Such a huge dick is always a feast to suck because the big size of his dick is just enormous. Big, thick and hard dicks is what every sizequeen likes.

    Google also has thesauruses working

Joshs big dick is one of the largest cocks I ever seen. Such a massive penis is always a feast to blow because the large size of his pecker is just enormous. Huge, fat and massive cocks is what every sizequeen likes.

Reading that paragraph just how different is it from the previous one? Yes "big dick" is not very much seen here, but the other keywords make up for that IMHO and give the text a more "fluent" reading experience.

What I found out for myself is that if your text content is rather short you must be more precice, if you have larger text content you can rephrase whatever you want to convey, fill in other relevant and related keywords to add more "value" to the text corpus.

The search engines count words in general, calculate the distances of words and the distances between the important words on your page (think meta keyword, meta description, alt and title attributes, bolt, strong, italic, em, to highlight important words). SE's count how many pics you use, how large they are (just icons, tumbs or really pictures?). SE's check who you link to and where you are linked from and with what linking texts.

SE's then compare all statistical information of your site with other sites of your genre or category. If you are "normal" you are fine. If you are abnormal you will be checked in more detail. If abnormal in a good way in the means of actually offering value to the reader you will be ranked higher than the average... if abnormal in a bad way (keyword stuffing, spammy conent or whatever is not normal) you will be moved down.

But, laugh or not... the two most important lesson I learned in the last three years as a "Porn R&D" coding on my little scripts is:

    • Text is text
    • It's al relative

Title would fit better for your keywords since title attribute is for the title of the picture for... well... a title e.g "Extra large dicks" ... whereas the alt attribute is meant for an alternative description depicting what is shown on the pic itself "Ryan's is laying on his couch, watching Falcon's newest movie with a friend. Both of them have their extra large dicks out."

but I am no SEO guru... I only read a LOT of those (http://research.google.com/pubs/papers.html) and read quite a few of those (http://www.google.com/patents?as_q=&...=0&as_maxy_ap=) and was surfing here (http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/).

All the sudden it made "click" and I knew what to do: just write!

    Thanks Mr. P,

but I'm just a lazy fuck who likes technical stuff, reads other people's papers and patent applications and knows enough php to code for my grand lazy needs...

The script I was and am writing for the last almost 4 years is 95% done - just plugging them together... lots of research for a script - but it's worth it... with my test sites I slip into google index and also through editorial testing (can tell by traffic incline).

Still looking for the last part: a DNS server which I can add domains to using php scripts.

A bit I showed here on the board, a few I showed in private, some I just explained and much is still hidden
    :-D
