I find myself having trouble coming up with stuff to post about being so new to the whole field.

I'll never forger this one.....

I'd been in the offline porn industry a few years prior to coming online in 99 but most of my stuff offline was "behind the camera" I did not deal with anyone but the models, directors, and crews.

During my first few days online (while building a paysite for some clients) I came across a feed company (name escapes me) who offered a "digital porn magazine" for your members area.

I signed up for a demo account, and a few hours later my phone rang.....

Me: Hello V1rtualDesires This is Loki

Tom: Hello this is Tom from (the name I forget ) I wanted to touch base with you about our feeds.

Me: Cool, I'm liking what I've seen so far how much content is there total?

Tom: Right now we have over 20 issues worth of content for the feed and were getting together about 20 more in the next few months

Me: hmm, I dunno if that's going to work or not, I'm looking for more actually

Tom: MORE? How long do you think it would take your members to go through 20 digital issues???!!!

Me: Prolly a week actually

Tom: A WEEK????? Look I dunno about you but when I see something hot I stop and I jerk off...... (what he said after that I don't recall)

It was at this point where in my mind I freaked , here's this dude telling me he jacks off during our BUSINESS CALL... A Business call.. a.... Porn Industry Busines.... SHIT!

That was really the hardest thing for me to get used to , coming from an actual suit and tie business world then to shooting (and staring in a few) films to a phone call about my sales rep's "alone Time"

And I'm no prude... as any of you hear who ever heard my radio show know lmao

MONEY kept me motivated. Each new thing I learned AND IMPLEMENTED made me more money and kept me going.

Ryan, I'm in the same spot as you. The hardest thing is questioning how I could make it in this biz when there is an overwhelming and seemingly endless amount of things to learn. Plain old hope that all the time and work I am putting into this will eventually PAY OFF is what keeps me moving forwards. Seeing that other people can and have achieved this helps. If I didn't have these boards, I'd be completely alone and clueless in this. These boards not only give info but seeing others at work and getting results helps me think I can, and you can, too.

You will see this said many times, but I believe it to be true. Pick one area that you are good at. If you like galleries do galleries......and yes, there is still money in galleries. If you like to blog then build blogs and learn how to effectively do that.

Reading and posting on boards is also good practice in that over time you will meet people who can help you after you have built up an amount of trust. Don't spend your entire day on them, but do set aside some time every day to check them over. This one thing alone allowed me to find great mentors over the years.

i'd say find what works for you and attack it.... i've been in this biz since before anyone that I've seen post here and I still read the boards and learn new things every day...

are they good for marketing your product? yes? should they consume a significant portion of your work day? absolutely not. it should be the other way around...

you'll find the balance brotha... look at my postcount on GFY and you'll see at one time I was still in search of my balance and being new wasn't even an excuse I could use hehe

I think you should just post the questions that you have, and the answers that you have to other's questions. Too keep motivated I think you should keep exploring and learn what you need to learn. Keep working on new projects and you'll continue to have new stuff to learn and post about. If there's one thing I've learned it's that this business changes so quickly that you can never take anything for granted and that you need to keep moving.

a wise man once told me a successful entrepreneur fails more times than he succeeds... now im not so sure that ensures success but its a good credo to keep in mind when on of your feeler projects fails..and you'll be surprised what feeler projects take off and which ones fail..often they can be opposite of what you would have guessed

you just have to get to know people by reading there posts first then start chatting with them in the threads and ask questions you will start to pick stuff up pretty quick that is what i did
