circle jerk was a tactic from back in teh day.
You create fake sites that have no real content, that just constantly send the surfer to other fake sites and bombard them with popup chains and stuff.
The theory was eventually they would get tired, and join a paysitem, just to get the fuck out of your circle jerk chains.
CJ traffic is known to be the least productive traffic of all - expect ratios in the 1:100,000 range if you are lucky!
In mainstream CJ is Commission Junction - probably the biggest place to find affiliate programs.

Actually, a well planned hub and a circle jerk of free sites, galleries, blogs, and what have you can still be effective, without the popups. Especially for filtering your traffic to identify what niche(s) they are interested in. $0.02
