What are your thoughts on including these words in a domain name for each of the specific types of sites, this is kind of a spin-off on Richs earlier thread but a more generalized discussion, do you feel adding the word tgp, gallery, thumb etc to a TGP site name is of any use?
Likewise, using the word 'tube' in a tube sites domain, do you feel that is of any use i mean, if a surfer visits the site, surely they are going to realize its a 'tube' once they see it?

These days in my search engine traffic, the word "tube" comes up probably the most often any search word, so tube is a good word to use in a domain name.
And i often use "blog" or "blogs" in my domains. Yes, i think it helps.

it definitely helps just having terms in the URL can give you a boost with Google. Also if you use any of the free keyword tools out there you'll see people still do searches with tube, tgp blog blogs etc in their search so having that in your domain will help you capture those searches.
