in fact if someone is living in the wrong body you refer to that person in a way that person thinks he/she is like.

so if someone thinks he's a she you refer to him as a woman and vice versa.

psychologically funny is that: if you were to have sex with a person having boops and a penis but that person thinks or desires to be a woman, than that sexual intercourse would be considered heterosexual since there is a man and woman on spot.

in real life what heterosexuals/gays call a man with boobs and a dick I do not know.

If it's a male changing to female, then call her she.

If it's a female changing to male, then it's he.

It's the sex gender they are changing to.

And don't forget that the word shemale is a word that comes from the porn industry. I know lots of pre-op transsexuals but none of them would call themselves shemale. I personally think that the word shemale is insulting, but that's just me...

I don't use the word "shemale" I use the word "trans" , I once told one of my male models (straight) who wanted to work with one of "my girls" that she was a "trans" to which he replied ..." I think gothic chicks are hot!"

probably best to ask a shemale direct , I use "she"

It's ironic that we're having this conversation today because today is the Transgender Day of Remembrance. It was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. I know this is porn and we use many colorful ways to describe the models in order to get our members to indulge in their own fantasies, but let's remember one thing... these models are human beings. And nobody likes to be called an "it". Well, unless objectification is your fetish, but that's a whole other ballgame. And I know it's become and industry term but I hate seeing the word "shemale" being used anywhere. I think it's crass and ignorant. I also hate seeing the "N" word used in black guy sites and the "F" word used by straight people who build gay sites. Yes, believe it or not, when you are a trans person the word "shemale" fits in that category.

If you don't know someone's gender look at how they present themselves. People make such a big deal about this but it's pretty easy, actually. If a person is dressed mostly as a female you refer to her as "she" (and yes, this is the case for drag queens when they are in drag) and if a person has the outward appearance of a man you call him "he". If someone is totally androgynous you could go as far as calling them "they" if you really can't tell. But androgyny is a different thing. A trans person usually identifies as one or the other.

Most times when someone calls a transgendered woman "he" because they know she used to be a man or because she is pre-op, it's the person's own prejudice (even if it's unconscious) that's causing them to use the improper pronoun. It all boils down to respect. If you know a person has gone through the trouble the present themselves as a particular gender, for whatever reason (true gender, entertainment, or otherwise) it is a matter of respect that you call them by the gender they are portraying rather than the one you think they should or should not be called. And I can't reiterate this enough... under no circumstances should you ever refer to another human being as an "it".

I didn't say ya did, darlin'. But if you read through the other posts you'll see where other people have. And I don't mean to sound like I'm coming down on anyone. I'm sure it's not done out of malice or even disrespect. Just from people who don't know anyone who's trans. But have you ever been speaking to someone who you think is a perfectly nice person who doesn't know your gay and you hear them refer to someone as a "faggot". And you realize they're not trying to be hurtful, they just don't know any gay people and they just didn't think about how hurtful they're being. But it doesn't hurt any less, does it. Imagine someone calling you an "it". That's kind of like saying that you're just a thing and you don't really matter. Much the same way many voters felt about us when they voted away our right to marry in several states recently.

You're welcome. I was going to go to a special gathering for it after work on Friday but it had been such a long week and a long day I was exhausted. So unfortunately I missed it. I was very disappointed. I have many transgendered friends and it breaks my heart to see them mistreated.
