Should I have ICQ?

I've been reading a lot on GWW, a lot of people have ICQ numbers in their signatures. We have microsoft communicator on all of the computers here. Should I get ICQ?

trillian (windows)
pidgin (most platforms)
mirinda (most platforms)
adium (mac)

and you will be all set

yes absolutely, its the default messenger in this biz

I think the reason why its the most used messenger program is because you can leave offline messages. Does any other messenger program allow that?

AIM, Yahoo, and MSN allow you to leave offline messages.

Hmm. They never used to be able to? I havent used AIM or yahoo in quite some time though. I just started using AIM again today and it still says you cant leave offline messages. Maybe you have a newer version of some sorts or something?

You can, but you and the other person your IM'ing has to have it updated to the most recent update. If you are updated and they are not, then it won't let you.

in this biz icq is a must for sure. still havent encountered someone on my path that didnt use icq. i have msn too, but thats for personal chats only, icq is pure biz

Personally, I like ICQ as it's one of the most stable IM's out there. MSN and Yahoo seem to fade in and out and present problems on my machine. ICQ isn't perfect either, but it is better than the other two in my opinion.
