Around the industry today joined because they are more interested in the actual 'viewing' of porn or because they actually want to make money from porn?

Reading through some threads on several of the larger straight webmaster forums, im really of the beleif that most of these people are just glorified porn surfers trying to make a couple of hundred bucks for beer money while they get to see all the free porn they can get.

That being said, what made you decide to start working in the adult industry?

The industry pushes the message that its easy to make money in porn. Seasoned porn surfers often click through to the affiliate program to check out what sites are connected to it, and get hit by that message all the time. Plus I am sure there is a huge population of people looking for an easy part-time second job to increase their earnings too.

No doubt, a number of them think lets give it a go, sign up and then find out that its not easy at all.

I have dealings on a daily basis with a active webmaster here on GWW who has questions all of the time, I feel like he is only in it for the porn and pushes a couple sales for drinking money. I think they signup because they like what they see and want to see more because it turns them on and when that happens they put aside actually making money.
I started out as a model then later a promotion to run a cam house. I never imagined I would be on the serving side of the buffet. I have to admit it is pretty cool though.

it's an "extension" of what I do in "mainstream" and/or the photography which goes above and beyond "provacative" ( interpreted: if you light a fire under water it eventually blows! )

there is money to be made , I just find making content for others less of a risk than posing boys with ballons and hoping it sells! ( interpreted: I believe in guaranteed sales ... what's my name? ... what do you want it to be baby? )

In 97 I had a business providing computer services to small businesses, and I got interested in a revolution I forsaw - music on the internet. That led me to spending a lot of time in clubs and with bands.

I ended up getting to know the owner of a stripclub and he asked for my help in trying to fix a project to get strippers in front of webcams. That led to a short lived webcam business attempt - and my first porn check in 98.

I realized what the affiliate model was all about, and have been an affiliate since.

And now we are all seeing a radical sea-change in the affiliate business. Bummer.
