Is JUB Or Cybersocket Available In Your Area?

So i was asking a couple of the owners of local gay bars and clubs about 'freebie' magazines they have distributed and almost all of them told me they hadnt heard of the JustUsBoys mag or the Cybersocket bar rag.

That got me wondering, how many of you folks have actually seen a copy of either of these publications at one of your local bars or clubs as oppose to receiving them in the mail?

I've lived in Denver, San Diego & Portland over the past decade and the only place I've seen CS was in San Diego. I picked it up a few times but quickly stopped as it was pretty much a waste of paper. They obviously didn't know what they were trying to be and from what I've heard, still don't.

I've never seen JUB anywhere.

I saw both of them but only when I was living in West Hollywood. Racks and racks of them there (of course).

Can't comment on other parts of the country however.

LOL. I too have lived in Denver (Fort Collins) and San Diego over the last 5 years, and I have only seen Cybersocket in San Diego. However, I have seen JUB when I traveled to Chicago. I am hoping they will get to Denver soon, now that they were bought by Mark.

Since I advertise in their print magazine, the more places it is out, the better for me.

Theres 4 gay bars in this area. Trash cans are alwasy full of them. I dont know why -sarcastic- they are full of nonsense.

I find them to be entertaining and very visually well done. I have also noticed an increase in traffic with every street date, and an increase in sales as well. I am sure some people just pick them up, scan them and trash them, but overall I am very pleased with JUB. Cybersocket on the other hand I have not had such good luck with, but then again, I ran much smaller ads and I think the magazine is geared for webmasters not surfers. Although I hear they have changed a bit since I last advertised with them.

In San Francisco I see them here and there, but not everywhere.

Well I can say that as of this New Year's, Just Us Boys is currently distributed at San Antonio's bathhouse. Although I did not see anyone reading them whilst there.

Issues of Cybersocket and Just Us Boys are usually at the popular bars here in Austin, plus they are at our last surviving movie rental/clothing store, Tapelenders right at the exits.

At least in Texas, people do pick them up and read them.

Since monitoring your business' ad spending is a very important part of any business, might I suggest as a test to go home with people who frequently visit the bars. Whilst at their home or apartment, find the table or nightstand where they put all the stuff they pick up from the bars, and note what they read. (Hopefully they will not put you there as well)

I've seen both in San Diego. Although, only at one of the local dives I go to ("Cheers"). Seems like there's normally a small stack of CS, and occasionally JUB. Could just be because they print less frequently? I don't normally do the bigger clubs and bars, so I can't speak for them.

I saw a copy of Cybersocket in Hawaii last week, but I have never seen either of these mags anywhere else, especially here in Panama!!!

though i think i've seen cybersocket at one of those newspaper stand thingies near here where you drop a coin and open the box

but that was like 7 years ago or so.

I may be thinking of HotShots though... hm

I've seen JUB in DC at my favorite gay bookstore, but that closed this year after a 35+ year run.

Not sure about Cybersocket.
