Anyone Else Having This Happen On ICQ?

The past couple of weeks ive had a LOT of users with nothing but cyrillic characters trying to add me, was curious if anyone knew what this was about or if it was just me it was happening to?

Yes, this has been happening to me. Not so much the Cyrillic characters, but a lot of Russian named people. I just click the negative option (don't add, block, or whatever it is).

I'm not sure what's up, but a webmaster over on Gay Demon had his nick hijacked, so I'm assuming that's what these adds are trying to do.

Yah, that's happened to me ever since I logged on ICQ. I now hit "block" the instant I see their name or profile contains Cyrillic characters.

One other thing, I've been shutting off ICQ when I'm not actually sitting at the computer. I figure if it's not one there's less of a chance of anything bad happening when I can't tend to it.

I never got ICQ to install on OSX in 2007 or 2008, and have not bothered since.

I use YahooIM or Skype.

This has been happening to me since November. Lots of junk all of a sudden, even when I am on privacy. It stopped a bit in January, and the last couple of weeks its ramped right back up again.

I've recently switched to Adium, though, so the spam is less intrusive now.

Just a usual spam I guess it happens to everybody who has ICQ.

just block them and check the report as spam box when you do
