Does Anyone Use A Custom Nameserver Domain?

With the domains you currently have setup at your hosting company, do you use the hosts nameservers or do you have your domains setup on a nameserver you actually own yourself?

Im contemplating setting up my own custom nameservers for a bunch of projects we have in the works but im really not sure if there is any actual benefit in doing so, is there?

I use my own nameservers. For no other reason than I think it looks cool.
