Gay Porn Magazines: What to do with my stash?

I must have hundreds of gay porn magazines stashed away in storage. When I was younger I actually thought they might increase in value. Then the internet came along and shot that theory to hell. Of course, if governments ever ban internet porn I guess we could see a resurgence in the value of old fashioned print porn... but I'm not holding my breath for that.

The mags are taking up space so I want to get rid of them. Porn mags on Ebay don't seem to sell very well and I'm no where near a store that buys used gay porn so I guess the trash can is my only option. It pains me since I speant thousands of dollars on these... but they did give me pleasure I suppose.
    :luke:

    Anyone have another idea?

Too bad it's not the 90's ... you could just scan them and create a few paysites. :innocent:

    I kid.

Unless you have someone to take all of those sticky pages off your hands, I'm afraid the trashcan is probably where they will end up.

You might be kidding, but it's rumored that someone (who's active on the boards) has done just that.

if your "artistic" you could take a couple mags and "cut-out" key pictures to paste ( decoupage ) gift boxes ( a valentine's candy box recently would have been perfect ) and such then brush a clear-coat sealant over top to keep the pictures in place.

agreed printed material isn't worth much anymore ( literary mostly! ) if your going to throw it out you might as well "shred" it and feed it to your garden.

p.s - yes you could recycle it but do you really want to stand there while the refuse workers look over your recyclables?

You could recycle them through your local GLBT Library or Archive.

    Most big cities have them.

Here in LA, it is called the ONE Institute and Archive. In Minneapolis (actually St Paul), it is Quatrefoil Library. Your GLBT newspaper, magazine, directory or Pride organization should know of the nearest.

A local University GLBT organization was having an auction fundraiser, and I gave them a bunch of mags and VHS tapes, and they made a killing!

Not an expert in this. From what I've followed in regard to antiques and collectibles, it appears that SOME particular magazine issues are valuable, but for unique reasons specific to that issue only. However, this is so rare that most mags are worth nothing in dollars and and even cents. I've even seen antique books you'd think are worth something valuated at tag or garage sale giveaway prices.

If mags in adult or in general ever fade away in the future, they probably still won't be worth anything until most all are throw away and disappear, making them into collectible rarities. Then they may be worth something, maybe, and who knows when that would be. 20 years, 50 years, a century or two from now?

Those creative and generous solutions are good. People still like mags and there are uses for them.

That was going to be my suggestion so I agree with you. There is always someone somewhere that wants anything (including old porn mags).

    I say Ebay too

Sell them in bulk if you don't want the hassle of selling issue by issue.

Throw a party and ask everyone to bring porn to trade. (We do drag exchanges all the time!)

Even if you're tired of it, someone may love it and you might end up with something new you enjoy. Who knows, someone might take the whole batch.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

I looked at ebay and saw dozens if not hundreds of gay porn mags for sale and not one bid. The ones sold in bulk seem to get a few bids so maybe I'll try that.
