Length Of Movie Clips In Members Areas?

Just curious about what you folks think should be the minimum / maximum length of movie files inside of a paysite members area?

Is it better to have one long 25 minute clip or have 5 smaller 5 minute clips?

Obviously having the five smaller clips is going to give the perceived 'perception' of there being more movies in the members area than there actually are but also, it gives the surfer a chance to cut right to the 'money shot' clip if they so wish.

So whats the general concensus on movie clips inside the members area? One long clip or several smaller high quality clips or, both?

all the sites i've been in that retain have clips AND a full length movie. we have wmv clips for dialup, wmv clips for broadband, mpg clips for dialup, mpg clips for broadband, and a full length wmv.

nastydollars has each video broken into 5 minute segments. each segment has a 5 minute clip and 5 1 minute clips. socalcash sites are pretty much like ours.

its nice having the option of viewing the full clip or just one portion of it. If you can do that it makes members happier. Of course it also depends on your site, for instance, if you are hyping your site as a movie house then you better have a good selection of long clips!

I like breaking videos up into a few smaller clips. Cuts down on the bandwidth if someone only watches the last set of videos.

nicedreams - interesting point since a fair amount (maybe a third) of our members only watch the last clip.

When I worked for a site that had all 60-90 minute streams, the stats consistently showed that viewers only have an attention span of about 11 minutes.

Anther way to look at it is, 'how long do you watch before you're ready to use fast forward'?
