    time for a new laptop

my laptop is over 2 years old now and its starting to have issues, I need to replace it with a new one. I want an i7 processor, a 17" screen and it has to be lightweight.

The only real option I am finding is a MacBook Pro (running it with bootcamp in native windows mode). Are there any other lightweight 17" screen laptops?

    *drooling* MacBook Pro

But the 17" is "only" i5 CPU

Why don't you extend your requirements with "Battery Life" - then the choices are few...

you can get 17" models with i7's , you just have to order them:

Yeah I am not fussed over battery life as I use my laptop plugged in most of the time. And I honestly didn't think it would be that hard to get more than one choice for a lightweight 17" i7 laptop???

For PC the only 17's with I7 are heavy. I have not looked at Mac and have heard people that dont like running the win system on them

I currently run windows on my macbook pro and I am quite happy with the way everything works. I ended up deciding to wait till the new line of macbook pro notebooks come out, it should be released in the first 1/2 of 2011 according to the mac gossip sites. Some say April like this site

I'm not too fussy about laptops anymore. Most people never have to make them work anywhere near their capacity. A basic HP is all I use now. HP $499 vs Apple $1299 for me is an easy decision.

The latest rumours from gizmocrunch (posted today) is that the new macbook pro laptops will likely have the new lightweight air design, plus may have the new Sandy Bridge Intel processors.

If you haven't heard much on Sandy Bridge, its Intel’s latest microarchitecture that brings a beefed up GPU and Turbo Boost system which provides out-of-the-box default speeds equivalent to the sort of speeds normally seen only from heavily overclocked enthusiast machines.
