The latest browser war stats from Net Applications are out, showing IE still is the most used, although its share dropped from 59.7 percent in September to 59.3 percent in October. Firefox was down a smidge too, 23 percent to 22.9 percent. But the interesting news is that Chrome usage was up from 8 percent to 8.5 percent. Rounding out the numbers, Safari stayed at 5.3% and Opera dropped from 2.4 to 2.3%

As for browser updates, Firefox has pushed its version 4 release date to "early 2011". This was originally supposed to have been released in 2010. And I did not know this earlier, but Chrome is now considered the fastest changing browser out there, going from the release of Chrome v6 to v7 in a mere 6 weeks! Chrome auto-updates its browser by default, installing the new version automatically on restart or reboot.
