    History sniffing is pretty interesting... Let's say you have "share" buttons at the bottom of a blog post, you could only show StumbleUpon icons to people who've been to StumbleUpon... The way it works is you create invisible links to the sites you want to know about and then check the "visited" property of those links. It has to target particular URLs. So if someone had bookmarked a deep link on StumbleUpon it's possible visited would be false for the home page URL - so it's imperfect, but still pretty cool.

    I don't think we will ever be able to stop companies from spying and collecting data on us. I'm sure the government has their hands in this mess also.

    I just don't do anything illegal online (or elsewhere) and install many different security measures, then go about my business.
