Hi guys..need some help. Do you read any local gay papers or national publications. I would like to do some advertising in local & national gay papers.

It depends on who you're advertising to, and what you're advertising.. but try Cybersocket, Out, The Advocate for National... and for local in Toronto.. Fab and Xtra.

I just received the specs for Out and the Advocate and they were not too keen on adult material - I'm not looking for adult but noticed how they phrased what was acceptable and not acceptable.

You MAY want to contact Specialty Publications too. It's been a while since I bought a mag but they publish Men, Freshmen etc. I know there is a phone number for there advertising department on the contact page... http://www.specpub.com/contact.asp

Gay Times in the UK is a good magazine as well. Not sure if you're looking for US/Canada only or not.

I just did a magazine run the other day and grabbed every gay mag at Barnes and Noble to do some research. Its one place to start as well.

The local rags in San Francisco are:

Bay Area Reporter
Bay Times
Gloss
Odyssey
Spectrum

Believe it or not, none of them have websites, so "let your fingers do the walking". The BAR is by far your best bet. Very loyal following that reads every word.

One of the best national publications in the US is Unzipped, but i'm sure it's really expensive!

For local mags, look up gay clubs/bars in the big cities you want to advertise in, email them and ask them what publications they carry.

include local and online LEATHER clubs or product stores...
and ask on some of the gay yahoogroups for worldwide
responses to what's in THEIR areas ??

call your local library and ask what resources they have
to research for potential advertising sources ??

generally even mainstream bookstores brick and mortar,
and online - might either have a few publications or
know of some - or where you can research for some sort
of db on print publication in your area of interest...

I will say though - that whaterver you do - and whatever
you find out - I would also be most interested in obtaining
that information... would that be possible ??

Also check out www.gaywebmonkey.com -- they distribute a magazine in paper form as well as have the current issue online for free -- and I did see porn type articles as well as some porn related advertising.
