How Do You Feel About Posting The Same Msg Across ..

    Multiple adult webmaster message forums?

I have just been checking email and realized that for the last few days Board Tracker has sent out a few notification emails for forum posts that were the same on about 15 forums

I can understand people wanting to get their announcements posted everywhere but really, is there any need to ask the same exact cut 'n' paste question on 15 forums?

How do you feel about cross posting messages on an excessive amount of forums?

Also what about people who steal forum topics from one site and post them on another?

    Regards,

    Lee

Personally, I don't know where you people find all the time to read, browse, surf, and post other boards. One is quite enough, thank you.

While I might post an announcement type post across several boards, I think asking the same question across several is overkill.

Stealing? It's short sighted on your part if you're doing it. It might bring you something in the short term, in the long term, it makes you look lame and remember, you reap what you sow.

I agree with Dzine. People who have enough time to read that many different forums have way too much time to kill. Maybe the multiple posts are mostly meant for the people who don't. Hopefully because they are busy making money.

Gotta agree, doesn't really seem to make sense to post the same thing all over. I can see posting elsewhere if you don't get an answer or something.

I can also see posting a topic from one board into another if it has relevent information for the other 'community' but not in stealing it. Credit should at the very least be given to the originating board/poster.

I can see trying a couple of boards if you aren't getting a question answered ... but just going nuts and putting it to 15 boards is overkill. I do see utilizing different boards for the spam area for an announcement. As to the taking a topic to another board ... I know I've shared a good link or a joke here and there.

I don't mind if a question is cross posted to a few boards, its always good to get different opinions and it seems that most boards specialise in one area so the responses are usually different. However, I have seen some people cross-post the dumbest things like "what is your fav 80's music"...it looks like they are just sig-whoring on those topics.

    cheers,

So it's agreed then that over posting the same topic is bad

I personally can see asking the same question on two to three boards as legitimate if you want some different information or responses, but any more than this is ludicrous.

    Cheers,

i agree, it depends on what you are posting. If it is a spam, it will be seen as such and treated accordingly.
If you are trying to get answers to questions or varying opinions, you can reach a diverse audience by posting on different boards.

as far as stealing other post ideas, again, it depends on what it is. Occasionally, I will see a good topic somehwere else and am interested to get another view on it so I might ask a similar question in another place. I always preface it with something like "i saw this discussion on another board..."
