Check It Out ==>ICE seized 84,000 child pornography domains<==

    Dear gww folks,
ICE,the Immigration and Custom Enforcement agency has accidentally seized 84,000 domain names ,in an ongoing operation against child pornography . Soon after ICE was allowed to seize the domain names, they forced the websites to post the following message :
"This domain name has been seized by ICE - Homeland Security Investigations, pursuant to a seizure warrant by a United States District Court under the authority of 18 U.S.C. 981 and 2323.

    What do you think?

Ah- here's the actual story in context from The Hill:

Homeland Security wrongfully seizes domain names on child porn grounds
By Sara Jerome - 02/19/11 11:54 AM ET

In a recent round of domain name seizures, the Justice and Homeland Security Departments shut down 84,000 websites that hadn't broken the law, falsely accusing them of child pornography crimes, according to TorrentFreak.

The websites were replaced with a banner that read: "Advertisement, distribution, transportation, receipt, and possession of child pornography constitute federal crimes that carry penalties for first time offenders of up to 30 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, forfeiture and restitution."

After the error was identified, it took about three days for some of the websites to go live again, rather than redirecting to this banner, according to the report.

Homeland Security's ICE unit had a warrant to seize the websites, but reportedly took down many that had not broken the law.

The domain provider, FreeDNS, was taken by surprise: "Freedns.afraid.org has never allowed this type of abuse of its DNS service. We are working to get the issue sorted as quickly as possible," the owner said.

It's unclear how the error occurred, according to the report. DHS did not mention the problem in a release about the seizures.

The "Operation in our Sites" campaign aims to shut down rogue websites, such as those selling counterfeit goods, making copyright violations, or posting child pornography.

Maybe just like Kelli said, the message should be chaned to
"Dear Sick Bastards this domain name has been seized by ICE - Homeland Security Investigations, pursuant to a seizure warrant by a United States District Court under the authority of 18 U.S.C. 981 and 2323. This is just step one in the process of making you sick freaks who hurt children pay. May you burn in hell."

    Funny huh?

    If you read this...

    https://torrentfreak.com/u-s-governm...istake-110216/

You'll see that what happend was that a subdomain on mooo.com was targeted by ICE. Instead of just taking down the one subdomain they accidentally redirected all 84,000 subdomains to a warning page about CP when only one of the 84,000 was supposed to be taken down.

That's a pretty major fuck up IMHO...

    Yeah, ICM's BIGGG MISTAKE.

They seized also Mooo dot com, which caused the seizing of other innocent sub-domain names .Most of the accidentally seized domain names were being used for personal or business use and not for child pornography.
Even though the Department of Homeland Security issued a press release regarding the seizure they forgot to explain the big mistake.
