New stats from Nielsen show that in the U.S. smartphone market share, Android has taken the lead as the #1 operating system, pushing Apple's iOS to second place, tied with BlackBerry.

Android secured first place in period between Nov - Jan, as shown in the attached graph, with a market share of 29%. Apple & Blackberry tied at 27%, well ahead of the next leading o/s from Microsoft, HP, and Nokia.

Also quite interesting is the age breakdown chart, showing that Android is doing a much better job of attracting a younger market.

So it looks like we should all be developing our mobile products for Android, Apple and BlackBerry! Just when you were comfy having your products fully proven on iPhones only
