Color: the new mobile social site

Have you guys heard of the latest social media site called Color? It officially launched a couple days ago. Its being touted as the new photo-based social media for mobile users.

Their announcement gave a brief description of their service:

Every photo and video captured using Color is stored on the Web for immediate access via the application without requiring massive amounts of storage space on your phone. Capture every experience without worrying about using up memory; Color has infinite capacity. Each day is beautifully displayed as a series of thumbnail images. Scroll through days, weeks, or even months, instantly using an intuitive touch interface. Tap on any image to go back to the day when it was originally captured for full contextual information, like who was involved, who saw it, and whatever conversation it sparked. Looking back has never been so detailed, easy and fun.

Color is being backed by Sequoia Capital, which is known for previously backing some big winners like Apple, Google, Oracle, PayPal, YouTube, LinkedIn, Cisco, NVIDIA, Yahoo, Kayak, Zappos, Electronic Arts, Atari, etc... They invested over $41 Million in this site.

Color sounds like its made for people with short attention spans. I went to the site on my PC and found only links to download the app. Wow, that’s all I can do? Its lost my attention already

I wonder where some of these sites (e.g. the ones you listed) would be without the venture capital companies...

Like, where does this real spendable money come from?

The true story behind FaceBook is not the vision of Mark Zuckerberg and some Asian programmers as depicted in the movie and on 60 Minutes, but rather Peter Thiel, the gay conservative Stanford educated hedge fund capitalist who has built the $500B valuation.

Is it real or is it Ponzi? Does Mark Zuckerberg truly have $5B to spend at Wal*Mart, to decorate his rental house within walking distance of the FaceBook office?

Was "The Social Network" an unauthorized biography, or was it a well orchestrated PR campaign for the Goldman Sachs run up to an IPO, for the sake of Wall St Investors who don't know how to use IE without an Executive Assistant?
