    Do I Suck At Banners?

I made this to enter a contest, will any of you give me some constructive criticism?

The picture and logo are cool...just a lil hard to read "Beach"

    Other than that...I like it

I'm not the designer in the family though :goof:

I'd pump up the brightness and contrast to make those colours really scream out. You've got these great blues and pinks in there, and the white shorts.. so making it just a bit more extreme will get a bit more attention and probably more clicks.

    Looks good, though.

Thanks Rainbo. I agree. I'm not really good at making text readable, it always looks kind of fuzzy and stuck together.

You do realize by 'gay' I mean a man who has sex with other men?

Or make it a little bolder and add a stroke around the pink to make it accented more on the blue and white of the background image

    Regards,

I agree Jasun! It didn't look bland to me b/c of the pinks and blues until I saw your reply, I just tried it and it definately does have more "kick" now.

After everyone posts, i'll post the reworked version I make with your advice and see what you all think!

And add some animation to it. Nothing on that banner makes me to click on it and that is purpose of banners isn't it? Just a little animation to get surfers atention will be cool.

I have no idea if this is even a design possibility
I'm not design inclined... butt... to add some movement
to it as previously suggested - I wonder if it would be
possible to make the waves roll in (move)...

or maybe a bit of water of sweat dripping down his
    body (animated)

I want to see the re-work you already did...

can you tell I am impatient ?? LOL

Excellent idea but 400x200 banners generally aren't animated, eats up too much bandwidth. Otherwise i would.

Bell: I LOVE that idea, but things like that can't really be done without flash or the file size would be huge. I'm not ready to do flash banners yet I can't afford flash right now.

I'd put a stroke around the whole banner. You never know what colour background these thing will end up on and a one-pixel stroke will help contain the whole thing and prevent it from getting lost.

    Cheers
