Porn Guardian Adds New Clients, Takes a 360 Degree, 24/7 Approach

Hey guys. Just wanted to update you on our most recent news. I'm excited to see all the great activity around stomping out pirates lately. The industry needs all the help it can get, and I am happy we are all playing our parts. More importantly, stopping piracy isn't just about sending out DMCA notices: it's about identifying what users of YOUR site are actually pirating your movies in the first place. We have had amazing success so far in doing this, as it mentioned below. Let me know if we can help you do this on your site!

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

    April 30, 2011 – Florida

Today Porn Guardian, the adult industry’s fastest growing anti-piracy company, announced that it has added several more high-profile clients after its much talked about showing at The Phoenix forum, which included a "Dunk a Pirate" booth. In the last month alone, Porn Guardian is now providing its 24/7, staffed solution for fighting copyright infringement to Falcon Studios, Lucas Entertainment, Bel Ami, Cocky Boys, Kink.com, Grooby Productions, Staxus Entertainment, XES Entertainment, ManAvenue, Papi Thugz, Men at Play, StraightHell, and several other high-profile studios. The company includes clients in every major category: gay, straight and transexual.

Not simply a DMCA Take-Down service, Porn Guardian offers several other services that stop pirates in their tracks. "Instead of simply playing 'whack-a-mole' after a pirate has done his damage, we have technology in place to identify the actual members who are doing the initial pirating. That way, we are able to stop pirates from ever gaining access to the material to begin with. This is the most effective way to stop pirates, not just clean up after them," says partner Dominic Ford.

The company is also looking beyond traditional forms of piracy. “Cyberlockers (filesharing hosts) are still doing the most damage,” said partner Peter Phinney. “But we’ve seen DVD bootlegging on auction sites gain in popularity in recent months.” The company has dismantled several online e-commerce “stores” that were selling DVD-R copies of feature films in paper sleeves for just a few dollars. In some cases, these operations were pushing as many as 2,000 titles, running illegal copies on demand per sale, and even offering free shipping and multiple title discounts.

Porn Guardian also announced that it has broadened its reach and now employs 20 staff members across 17 time zones in all 4 hemispheres, so there are eyes on the screen around the clock and around the globe, searching for illegal files in 10 languages including Russian, Slovak, Czeck, Spanish, French, Dutch and Philipino (Tagalog and its many dialects.) “Piracy is a global problem and we offer the industry’s only truly global solution,” said Porn Guardian partner Dominic Ford. “Pirates are working across the globe 24/7, and so must we. Otherwise, we can never hope to win.” Ford said.

The company is known to have the best reporting and evidence gathering in the industry, and is currently working on several legal cases, providing crucial evidence to its clients' attorneys. Says Phinney, "Our service is completely transparent. We supply our clients with complete details about what sites their content is showing up on, who is posting them, where they are hosting their files, and much, much more. The level of our reporting is beyond anything the industry has seen. Clients who also use our watermarking services can see who originally downloaded a file and then track its journey as it shows up illegally online."

Seeing the need for an Industry-wide solution, the company recently launched a "do it yourself" version of its platform which is completely free for small sites. "A lot of companies are creating DMCA notices themselves and are very successful at it. We are giving them a way to centralize their efforts on our reporting platform for free. They find the links and use our system to report them. That way they can take advantage of the knowledge and automation our system provides in a very cost effective way." The platform is so sophisticated that Porn Guardian clients who also work with companies that (only) provide DMCA Take-down services are asking them to report links using the Porn Guardian platform instead of using their own methods. "Our clients can't go back to the rudimentary systems they were using before. They want to centralize all their efforts on one solid platform. That includes their in-house efforts, Porn Guardian's efforts and other 3rd Party efforts," says Ford. "We provide interfaces for all these different parties to work together."

On the fear-mongering tactics used by some in the industry, Phinney thinks a calm, methodical approach is more effective. “Piracy is terribly painful,” said Phinney. “Our success comes largely from our approach, which eliminates the anger and attacks the problem coolly and calmly. We generally achieve better results than copyright owners (or fear mongers) do on their own.” Ford adds, "As a content producer myself, I have a vested interest in stopping piracy not only for the sake of my own site, but for entire industry. Porn Guardian is the only solution with this kind of 'skin in the game'."

The company’s tactics appear to be working. The company has a 99% success rate on getting files removed, has shut down countless illegal trading sites, cut off many pirates from ever opening filesharing accounts again (how they make their money), and has taken tens of thousands of bootleg DVDs out of circulation.

I suggest that anyone and everyone join pornguardian.com. It's a must!

Please note, anyone who is a FSC member qualifies for PornGuardian's Industry Guardian for free. They also qualify for the FSC's APAP Program for free.

There are limitations of course on the free side.

For more information on the Porn Guardian side, I suggest emailing Dominic Ford.

For more information on the APAP side, I suggest emailing Diane Duke - diane (at) freespeechcoalition.com.

We're actually making a move for ourselves. In the past, we've been encouraging producers to send DMCA's, providing them with direct links for them to send their own DMCA's. That's how the success has came.

HOWEVER, we've teamed with Porn Guardian. It will save us a lot more time. We just email them the pirate links, they take care of the rest. It takes a lot of stress off of the content owners to take time away from sending DMCA's. Where as, we feel they could spend that time marketing, working on their website, casting, etc.
Let us do the work with Porn Guardian!

We joined with APAP and Porn Guardian for about $300yr. YOU CAN TOO!

Let me explain some more.... I feel my time is worth $10.00 an hour. If I'm spending 10 hours a week, I'm losing $100.00 worth of pay. That's 520 hours a year lost. That's $5,200.00 a year that I'm losing. When we send DMCA's ourselves, we're not making money. That's whether it's you, Falcon, Titan, HunkMoney, every body. Wouldn't you want to spend that time on making money and securing your next paycheck? So compared to that, wouldn't you want to pay a small fee compared to that to join Porn Guardian or APAP?

IF YOUR NOT A FSC MEMBER, I SUGGEST THAT YOU ACT NOW! It's never too late!

If you find pirate sites, you can still report it to us. We will investigate the site and aid Pornguardian with the ammunition to take the piracy matters further.

If you have any questions, of course you can shoot me an email! I strongly suggest joining Porn guardian and APAP. If you did anything for your business today, I would say that's the best decision anyone could make to stay in business!

    Thanks guys!

Is there a way for affiliates to report pirated content except for sending emails?

I've come across a lot of pirated content, especially on sites in german language, but I've grown tired of contacting site owners directly. In the best cases I get an answer that tells me "thank you and we will look into it, blah, blah..." and when I check the sites again after a while their pirated content is still up. However, in most cases site owners don't even bother to answer at all.

Sending emails seems just a waste of time for me, so if there would be a system where I can also see which sites really care for their pirated content being taken down, would be a great advantage and I would gladly do my small part in helping to fight piracy.

What I would suggest (Dominic may have something differently to say)... Email me a list of the infringing sites, we have the ability to "investigate" the infringing site content and then report them over to Dominic.

    I hope that helps
You can email them to me at amad (at) amadvideos.com

Keep in mind, we'll be slow at replying to emails this week due to a sudden "phase 1" in relocation to Southern California. This is the office and residential house "hunt." But will be checking emails in the morning and night.

Well, I actually don't keep a list of sites. I used to put some effort in reporting possibly infringing sites to content owners, but pretty much given up on it because it was a waste of time.

Nowadays, when I see pirated content somewhere I just go on, but it would be great to have some kind of automated system/website where I can go and enter a link when I come across something suspicious.

I would talk to Dominic about that.

Here is an example of what I'm looking for. This morning I found a link:

    allmalebeauty.blogspot dot com

The blog offers links to a file-sharing site with full scenes from Blake Mason, Sean Cody, Cocksuremen and others.

It would have been great to quickly report the link to a website. Maybe it would be a helpful service to webmasters who do care that pirated content is being taken down.

You need to understand that what goes on now is a site is reported to either myself or Porn Guardian, we do a search on the site for studios content of who is enrolled with the Porn Guardian program. Once that point occurs, the files are then logged and set in quene for removal or DMCA's are sent.

If you just report a site / domain name. That is a huge terrific help. Unfortunately, we've taken a turn and are now working with Porn Guardian and are no longer contacting other studios. Yes, it was a great help in combatting piracy. But we later found out it was a problem issue with content owners. They began complaining, "I don't have the time to deal with this." Now, they're content is still up. We've backed off from that and are now working with Porn Guardian 100%.
