I know how you feel. Our office was broken into last year by 2 adolescent kids. Luckily, the alarm went off and all they got away with was a printer, 2 computer monitors, and a desk chair (we guess they used the desk chair to carry it out. Because it was left on the sidewalk. They did try to take 2 computers because they were unplugged.

Can I make a suggestion? Get security cameras. We have them surrounding the house our 2257's are kept at.

One thing we've learned is a home alarm doesn't do anything but scare them. Once it goes off, they figure they've got at least 5 minutes to get out. But the alarms don't actually catch them. They aren't black and white. They are color. However, it takes about 24-26 hours for them to adjust and start recording in color. Get yourself a cheap TV, we got a 18" LCD flat screen for $102. It records for about 2 days. It records onto a DVR box. Once it's full, it begins recording over the past 2-3 days of what it recorded. If you got broke into, you'd have it recorded to show the police. You can also take a thumb drive and record the video that you need and hand it to the police so they have it.

We're a house on the end of a "dead end" street. The cameras cover all doors. They're set up to where if they pull in it gets them crystal clear, if they drive off it will get the back of their license plate, all sides of the house so if they break into a window, any way that they can possibly get in, they record them.

The great thing about these cameras is they're so easy to hide! We have ours in trees and the cords are black so they're very easy to hide.

If your uncomfortable with that... Radio Shack sells wireless video cameras and they go up to about 100ft from your computer. It records it onto your computer. That's what we had in the office. We kept a laptop locked in a 120lb. safe with the power cords going out the back. It's heavy as hell.

There's a few options.

My guess is it's the same guy(s) breaking in.

You can also get a "fake" alarm. A friend has one. It's about $20. It's a sensor you put up. When there's movement it makes a REALLY LOUD alarm sound. They'll think you have an alarm system. That will scare them (I'd think).

from what i understand from the ID team whos finger printing and taking glass samples as we speak "hot bald dude" the tv was recovered not sure about the mac mini and other stuff but should be a few days maybe?

might still end up doing the insurance claim not sure yet

ya im going to get cameras for the new place indoor outdoors night vision rig hide the pvr it uses can use it on my iphone to see as well

In most cities there will be a fast response security company able to monitor your alarm and get to it within minutes. Most of them don't charge much and it is a lot faster than any Police response. You should look into it.
Cameras are always great, but they have to be maintained and backed up daily. Just having the time or date wrong on the screen can make them completely useless as evidence.

Having been in the security biz for over ten years, I would recommend the following:
A loud alarm (internal, you want to destroy as many of their senses as possible).
Smoke Cloak.
A big Dog.
CCTV.
Alarm response officers.
And advertise all of the above on every single window and door.

Most of our clients (when I was in the security business) who were consistently broken into never advertised what they had to protect them, and it really does help to make it clear.
