    recommend some good tv shows

    I am bored with the American summer tv schedule full of repeats. The only fresh TV show I am watching now is The Amazing Race Australia Edition. Can anyone recommend some good tv shows from around the world? English is a must, I really like comedies and light dramas.

    I must be the only one on the planet that doesn't watch T.V , for one I'm always busy and two there really isn't anything I have to see that doesn't immediately go to DVD

    I saw the stupidest program the other night at the bar ... jersey something ? , I think it was the first time I was ever tempted to ask the bar tender to change the channel ( interpreted: there were too many "trans" watching it and I didn't want my ass kicked by a girl! - LOL )

    I don't watch a lot of tv, primarily because I'm slammed in a hot room 90% of my time and a TV in here would certainly heat it up even more! BOOOO!

    HOWEVER, when I do watch TV... I watch these shows:
    Animal Planet - Whale Wars
    Showtime - Dexter
    Showtime - Nurse Jackie
    WE - The Golden Girls
    Nickelodean LOL - The Nanny
    Hallmark in the mornings - I Love Lucy
    Showtime - True Blood
    CNN daily
    The Weather Channel
    G4 - Cops
    G4 - Police Women of Broward County
    Cartoon Network at night - Family Guy
    Fox - The Simpsons
    Nickelodeon - Spongebob Squarepants and the Penguins of Madagascar

    Occasionally I'll watch something on National Geographic or the History Channel to learn something new about history.

    That's really it. I'm kind of lame.

    wow, some of these shows look pretty good, thanks for the suggestions. I like HBO shows like United States of Tara and Nurse Jackie, so I will check out those other suggestions this week.

    I read about 10 novels per month (don't sleep good) I'm getting ready to start the George R. R. Martin box set which includes The Game Of Thrones.

    I just finished (except for 1 book) All of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series by Laurell K. Hamilton.

    I always have at least 6 books waiting to be read.

    I enjoy watching about anything on animal planet, syfy or the discovery channel, but for series type shows that run in the summer I really like the TNT lineup: Leverage, Memphis Beat, HawthoRNe, Men of a Certain Age, Rizzoli and Isles, and The Closer. A new sci-fi series on TNT called Falling Skies is looking good, it premiered on the 19th and will be on Sundays. It's basically a War of the Worlds type show starring Noah Wyle who you probably know from ER and The Librarian.
