If you don't know what a femtocell is, then you don't have to worry about this new hack. Femtocells are home routers that use broadband connections to boost mobile coverage around your home or office. These are a relatively new technology that you can buy directly from your phone supply shop for a couple hundred dollars.

But security experts have revealed that due to 2 security issues, femtocells manufactured by Sagem (disctributed by Vodafone) can give a hacker the ability to grab secret subscriber information from Vodafone. This info will then let the hacker intercept or make calls at the expense of victims, and access a victim's voicemail too!

Fortunately, the experts are not hackers themselves, and have released this information not only to Vodafone and Sagem, but to the world in hopes of having this security hole closed before this becomes a major issue.

You can read all about it on their site: http://wiki.thc.org/vodafone

And if you do have a Sagem femtocell already, I recommend disconnecting it and getting in touch with your supplier before using it again!
